Current Events
Updated: 20/07/2020

**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

Alice Clarke
"Of course I miss my home, of course I'm scared, but..."
Alice Clarke [Junction] Piy7Z6t
"...at least we're free now, right? No one can control our lives anymore."

The Biography

Birth Name: Alice Madison Clarke
Aliases: N/A
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Birth Day: July 4th
Species/Race Name: Human [Homo Sapiens]
Original Homeworld Name: Scarred Earth
Arcana: The Magus - The Magus Arcana is the equivalent of the Magician Arcana, numbered I. Contrasting to the Magician who's focused on oneself, the Magus indicates the intricate and complex web of influences that binds the Universe to itself, and to all else. They look to shift events and make the world change for themselves instead of the other way around.
Place of Residence: Middle Ward
Evoker: Arcana Flag
Academy Semester: First
Class:

Part/Full Time Job: N/A

Appearance:
Casual:

Standing at 5'3 and weighing around 98 pounds, Alice doesn't come across as a very intimidating person, but she's not exactly an approachable one either. Typically she can be seen wearing a plaid scarf and an unassuming purple jacket with a pair of high-quality boots to go with it. Her eyes are a distinct and odd shade of yellow that are so bright they almost seem to be glowing at times with her glasses giving away the fact that this strange trait of hers isn't simply the result of eccentrically-colored contact lenses. Taking after her father, Alice is also very hygienic and this fact is made somewhat apparent through her carefully combed and prepared hair, although this otherwise elegant head of hair is disrupted by a protagonist ahoge stray strand at the top which refuses to stay down no matter how much she struggles to fix it in the morning.

Personality: The thing that Alice values most in the world is the concept of free will. She's a person who strongly believes that a life defined solely by the choices another makes for you is no life at all and that without the option to forge your own path existence as a whole would be meaningless. Knowing this, it'll likely surprise you to hear that despite this emphasis on individuality and freedom, Alice isn't a very assertive person. Having lived most of her life surrounded by people quite literally programmed to think, feel, and act according to preordained patterns has driven her to become introverted and reserved as she instinctively feels that her words and suggestions will fail to make any difference to those she offers them to. While she firmly understands how she wants the world to work, how it actually does is unclear to her, and as she looks at her surroundings and sees the citizens of Junction going about the daily grind and acting much the same way as the people in Scarred Earth did, she can't help but wonder deep down inside if they're truly free... and staring out at the masses with such anxiety, she looks back inside herself to ask the very same question.

Rolling with the flow wherever she goes, Alice does her best to distract herself from these worries of hers with idle distractions and whatever luxuries prove available to her. Unable to confront the question with an irrefutable answer, she instead dodges it as much as she possibly can and blocks out Life's Greatest Questions through mindless entertainment and attempts at leading a carefree life. Anime, manga, video games, television, comics, music... Regardless of the actual quality of the media she consumes, Alice'll devour it eagerly so long as it can divert her attention away from the thoughts her mind so often wanders to. She bides her time endlessly waiting for the answer she wants to reach her ears and unconsciously finds ways to avoid seeking out the truth for herself out of the fear that her worldview might be proven wrong. Even so, though, some part of her knows that an answer has to be out there and the desire to know what it is puts her at odds with herself. Staring down at Schrödinger's box, she can't decide whether to let the cat out and accept things for whatever they are or to keep it closed and unconsciously protect her own sense of comfort.

As mentioned before, Alice is very much an introvert. She generally tends to be somewhat shy around strangers and while she can do a good job of putting on the facade of being a social butterfly, she more often than not tries to get away from conversations as fast as possible unless they're with someone she already has some sort of preestablished relationship with. The exception to this rule is those who in some way break patterns or display an exceptionally strong will; Alice is drawn to people like these like moths to a flame, although unless they deliberately seek out a bond with her then more often than not she'll remain at least a little distant.

Despite her insecurities though, Alice shouldn't be taken lightly. When her ideals are challenged and there's no choice left but to confront the issue then she won't hesitate to take charge to fight for what and who she holds dear. Her justice is swift and unflinching; she'll gladly take up a sword if she knows there's no other way to deal with an issue.

The Potential

Strengths:

Strength Name: Finesse
Description: Alice's attacks hold a certain grace to them and when she's doing well in a battle her movements are awe-inspiring to watch. After successfully landing a critical hit on an enemy her Ppstr stat will increase by 5% for the duration of the Once More and her next subsequent turn. This can't stack on top of itself, but there's no limit to the amount of times it can be triggered per battle.

Strength Name: Patron of the Arts
Description: During her time in Scarred Earth, Alice spent much of her freetime studying drama and acting. She knows how to put on a convincing performance and accordingly also possesses a keen understanding of how to manipulate an audience and get them on the edge of their seat. Whenever she uses a Distress skill on an enemy, Alice has a 10% extra chance of inflicting the ailment on them.

Strength Name: Slice n' Dice
Description: When using Slash skills, Alice deals 10% extra damage than she would normally.

Strength Name: Clever
Description: Alice isn't necessarily a genius, but she does have above average intelligence and tends to do well at confronting puzzles and other problems that require a logical answer. Combined with the state-of-the-art weeaboo technology that is her soulbond weapon, she's more than capable of installing a third node into her blade and can thereby take advantage of an additional slot.

Strength Name: Trivial Trivia
Description: Being a shut-in, Alice has had to deal with the challenge of finding interesting things to occupy her time for much of her teenage years. This has led to her accumulating a vast repertoire of (mostly) useless information and she continues to gather more and more like some kind of human sponge. While this doesn't have much of a practical application, it can make for a good conversation starter and it opens up pathways to connect to people through their more obscure hobbies and interests.

-----
((Racial Strength: This is where you put any special powers that your race is capable of. This area is where your character truly comes alive. Things such as flight, shape shifting, or anything else your race can do is put here. This strength will be heavily scrutinized to ensure balance.)

—Racial Strength Name: Liber Gene
—Description: The source of Alice's deepest hopes and most dreaded fears; the Liber Gene makes Alice and all others who carry it immune to all forms of mind control and suggestion, save for those related to the soul, which it still manages to repel efficiently, if not perfectly. In combat, this makes it 15% less likely for the carrier to be inflicted with Charm, and in the case that it does it only lasts for one turn.

Weaknesses:

Weakness Name: Cynical
Description: Perhaps pessimistic is too harsh a word, but it shouldn't be any surprise that Alice isn't a particularly happy-go-lucky person considering the environment she grew up in and the revelations she's learned over the years. Everywhere she goes people look like machines to her and their words ring ever so slightly hollow no matter how much genuine passion or emotion rests behind them. Overall it could be said that life has largely lost its sense of magic for her and consequentially she deals 10% less damage with any magic-based attacks.

Weakness Name: Ramen Rakunda
Description: You wouldn't expect it from the daughter of the POTUS, but most of Alice's diet consists of snacks and quickly prepared meals like instant ramen. While Lucian was a loving father and clearly did his best to take care of her, the nature of his job often meant that he was swamped with work that could easily prevent him from spending time with her. With only one parent taking care of her, this meant that family dinners were a rare occurrence for Alice and that consequentially she slowly began to avoid attending supper in favor of more convenient options. You don't have to be disappointed when you see your dad's not at the table if you never bother with full course meals in the first place, right? Because of this she's skinnier than your typical human female and takes 10% more damage from physical attacks than she would otherwise.

Weakness Name: Xenophilia
Description: Ironically enough, beneath the surface Alice isn't as patriotic as you'd expect her to be. What she learned about her country and the world she lived in as a whole has severed a gigantic portion of the connection she felt to it. Even before learning about the Liber Gene's existence and the state of America though, she maintained a healthy interest in foreign cultures, although it's much more intense now than it ever was before. Since almost everyone in Junction comes from a different culture than she's used to, Charm skills have an extra 5% chance of success against her. In addition, her initial unfamiliarity with these cultures and their technology means she can only equip nodes up to tier 2.

Weakness Name: Colorful Cues
Description: The nature of Alice's soulbound weapon makes it easier for opponents to read her current emotional state and act to exploit it accordingly. In PvS this translates to her doing 5% less damage with Patriot. When it comes to PvP though there isn't an intrinsic mechanical effect; it simply allows an observant enough opponent to notice and take advantage of the meaning of the colors. For example, if a person managed to discern that the energy being red translates to negative emotions and turned their attention to Alice's movements and attacks, they could potentially learn that she's in a state of anger and use that knowledge to formulate a strategy against her. In that sense, this weakness of hers could be considered a counter to her skill in acting.

Weakness Name: Determinism
Description: The only thing that kept Alice from being brainwashed by the Horsemen of the Genesis was the Liber Gene. If it weren't for this gene of hers, her mind would have been altered just like everyone else's and she'd be an obedient machine with no freedom to speak of whatsoever. It's a terrifying thought, but... even more frightening to her is the implications of it. A single recessive genome was what decided her fate from the moment of her birth, so without the genetic layout she had, she would have turned out an entirely different person from who she is today. This thought haunts her everywhere she goes and deep down inside she fears that no one has free will, that regardless of the Liber Gene's existence and the Horsemen's actions everyone's fates are already written and all that occurs is preordained. She doesn't want that to be true, she NEEDS it not to be true, and if someone manages to convince her that it's really the case then she'd likely cease to function and fall into a downward spiral of depression... and that's the best case scenario in that event.

-----
((Racial Weakness: If you take a Racial Strength, you are required to take a racial weakness. This weakness must tie into your racial Strength and will be looked over just as heavily.)

—Racial Weakness Name: Flesh And Bone
—Description: Despite their many redeeming traits and how far they’ve come as a species, humans aren’t exactly known for faring very well against the harmful elements of nature. While it's true that Alice is in her prime and is a decently athletic person, she's still a bit underweight for a girl her age and isn't all that physically strong having to thereby rely on skill and strategy over brute force to back up any non-supernatural attacks made in PvP. In PvS combat, however, this means that any elemental ailment lasts a turn longer than usual.

Soul Bound Weapon:

Weapon Name: Patriot
Weapon Description: The beam katana is the weapon of choice for otaku dweebs, professional assassins, and otaku dweeb professional assassins! Alice's own personalized one which she lovingly refers to as "Patriot" has a blade length of 24 inches like most normal katanas, but it's significantly different in style in that in the place of normal steel is a beam of energy (as the name implies). Depending on her emotional state the energy blade switches between three different colors: red is the most common in battle and is usually associated with negative emotions such as frustration or sadness, blue represents positive emotions like happiness or relief, and white reflects neutral or mixed feelings that can't quite be placed into one of the earlier two categories.
Weapon Image:
Weapon Attack Type: Slash
Weapon Element:

Side-Arm Weapon:

Side-Arm Name: Fate Breaker
Side-Arm Description: A silver shotgun with an insigina on its right side that resembles a black pair of scissors.
Side-Arm Image:
Side-Arm Attack Type: Gun
Side-Arm Style: Shotgun - Scatter Shot - Accuracy is decreased by 30%. Consumes 3 types of ammo at once to fire -must be same type of ammo. Can shoot all enemies with one attack.

The Background

History: Born of the political union between Lucian Clarke and Amelia Fitzgerald, Alice had an atypical childhood from the start. As one of the few people in the world in possession of the Liber Gene (which she inherited from her father), she was among the overwhelming minority of people in Scarred Earth who were left with any sort of free will. In addition, she was the child of a rising star in the political world and due to the divorce shortly after her birth she was left with her father as her only parent. Nevertheless, Alice lived a fairly carefree and enjoyable youth despite her irregular status. It wouldn't be until later in her life that she had anything particularly grim to worry about; for that short period of time, she lived blissfully ignorant of the true nature of all those around her and never had to worry about her dad being too addled with work to give her the attention she desired.

It wasn't until one fateful day that this all changed. At the time Alice was still young, but even so she remembers the events that occurred vividly. While flying to Washington D.C. their plane crashed down after suffering an engine malfunction and she awoke amidst the wreckage to the sight of unfamiliar strangers. Wary of them and stricken with fear by the events, she feigned unconsciousness even as Lucian approached and engaged the men and women in conversation. She didn't fully understand everything being discussed at the time, but the words they said stuck well within her head and she found herself bombarded with revelation after revelation as to what was really happening behind the scenes in the world that she had previously thought so simple. Everyone she knew was a fake; her friends, her loved ones, her family... other than Lucian they had all been programmed by the "horsemen" to act and behave according to predefined, unyielding patterns. Their smiles, their laughs, their hopes and their dreams -- it was all just a simulation, feelings implanted in them not by Alice but by an outside force behind her control. It was horrifying and it tore her apart inside; she wanted to yell and cry and scream until the strangers took their words back and claimed it all a part some sort of twisted joke, but completely stunned she instead laid where she was just barely managing to hold back her tears and continuing to pretend that she was still asleep.

Everything became a downward spiral from that point on. She had expected her father to talk to her about it and make an attempt at revealing the truth, but no matter how long she waited he said nothing about what had happened and instead kept it completely secret. For the first time in her entire life she felt as though she couldn't trust him and while she still loved him, she could feel herself slowly drifting away from him. Even worse though was her own charade. Every day she had to get up and go to school like usual as if nothing was wrong; she had to pretend that everyone around her weren't just a bunch of empty husks, she had to smile and play the fool acting like she didn't know that the people who mattered the most to her in the whole world never actually gave a damn of their own accord. It was a terrible burden to bear and with it weighing down heavily upon her shoulders she retreated from everyone and everything unable to see any meaning in the world and the existence that she had once cherished so much.

Pushing herself through the daily grind with the few fragments of motivation she had left, Alice lived through her teenage years trusting and confiding in no one. She withdrew from society as much as possible and rotted away knowing that she was ultimately a prisoner of fate who could do nothing to change the world without bringing down the retribution of the Four Horsemen. This would go on for quite some time until the day that Junction arrived in the city. Unwilling to sit by and let the horsemen do with her as they pleased any longer, she headed towards the unfamiliar sight as fast as she could go on foot.

Lucian and James set out toward the tower as well unaware that Alice was tailing them from the shadows. Refusing to be kept in the dark any longer, she entered the city herself and sought out the answers to its sudden appearance. However, she'd accidentally alert her father to her presence and his insistence that she return home triggered a heated debate as she released all the pent up frustration she had accumulated over the years into a barrage of furious shouts and accusations. After years of wearing a mask, she finally broke down and started to reveal the true feelings and thoughts that she had kept hidden for so very long, but this vehement argument would come to a swift and abrupt end as the environment around them began to shift in appearance. Before another word could be spoken Junction jumped yet again and the world that the three of them had lived in for their entire lives slipped through their fingers leaving them stranded alone with no seemingly no way to return to the universe they knew. Frozen in place, Alice could only stand and watch as her father fainted and everything she thought she knew came crashing down for the second time in her life.

Analyzing Character Data.

Character Data At 95%.

Node strength detected with no node weakness allocated. Please note that strengths including nodes must have a weakness involving them too. Nodes are powerful things and allowing three of them is a big boon to you. Example weaknesses to this strength would be to limit all the nodes that can be equipped to be only up to tier 2 nodes or something of equal drawback.

All Other Data Is Approved.

Please Update Noted Fields.
