Current Events
Updated: 20/07/2020

**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch 5e3ad79594b7382fdf29140171e326d8

-The City of Neo Arcana-

You've read it so many times, that coveted invitation letter. With the progress of civilization, it was only natural that one day something like this would develop; everyone's goal is to make it to the highest point possible in life, and that point was right there in Neo Arcana.

The letter's contents were public, and your eyes attentively passed through the words handwritten into the immaculate laminated paper straight into their meaning.

Wake Up

"Greetings, Guest;

It is with our utmost pride that we send you this letter to announce that you or one of your family has been accepted to work in the beautiful city of Neo Arcana! Though as you may know our application processes are long and selective in nature, you among all others have shown the promise necessary to become a member of our society, an elite among the elites!

For the sake of brevity, we keep this letter of acceptance short, as we will soon be meeting directly in order to properly welcome you as our brethren, no matter who you used to be before you received this. The various luxuries of Neo Arcana are waiting for you, and an all expenses paid trip has been arranged for you and your family to take you directly to our artificial island in no more than a week from now.

Best regards;
Dominic Albert Arcana, President of Neo Arcana."

It was such a short note, barely a few lines long, but everyone you knew had their heart skip a beat whenever they read mere copies of the real thing online. There were only a handful of people who had received it and felt the need to share their accomplishment, but you knew that if you wanted to be at the center of this world's changing tides, you needed to be in this city.

You needed to escape.

With a ringing in your ears, you awoke from your sleep. Rubbing the drowsiness out of your eyes, you heard the sound of shuffling letters at your front door. You got dressed and had breakfast, figuring that whatever it may be, it could wait, but when you went to check your mail, there it was...

...that golden, laminated sheen. The red seal marked with the caricature of a mask. This was your moment, your opportunity to become part of the story of humanity, but as you finished reading what looked identical to the letter you had coveted for so long, you noticed a small difference at the bottom.

"Best regards;
Alexandre Augustus Arcana, Heir to Neo Arcana."

-----------------

Welcome to Neo Arcana, a modern, technological city built over a large expanse of the Pacific Ocean, this artificial island serves as a Heaven on Earth for those lucky enough to be chosen to inhabit it. Equipped with a powerful water purification system and geothermal energy harvesters, the entire city serves as the pinnacle of humanity's ingenuity and the solution to the world's water shortage and renewable energy problems. As a city it's the most modern in the world, with hovering vehicles aplenty and automated site-to-site roads providing extreme comfort even to people who have to cross from each end of the city to the other for their daily commute. Commodities are guaranteed, with everyone in Neo Arcana having a purpose; they can only live in the city if they or their family works there, after all.

However, the city also offers affordable and fast travel to various other locations around the world, ranging from a quiet mountain city that now serves as a popular getaway spot, a shining utopia built on the backbreaking labor of its law-abiding citizens, or a tropical paradise filled with wondrous sights and many attractions. The city has partnered with these three places to expand its global reach and allow its citizens the freedom of choosing which scenery they'd like to live under.

Neo Arcana is divided into several wards, each categorized by the type of work that takes place in them, though residential areas are spread both across those wards and also have a dedicated one specifically to them. The five main Wards are the Geothermal Powerplant, the Water Purification Plant, the World's Order Governmental District, the Residential Ward and, most important, the Enlightened Minds School Campus for students of all ages.

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch Empty
PostSubject: Re: Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch   Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch EmptyTue Sep 24, 2019 1:49 pm

Explore a Technologically Advanced World!

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch Ce6a8893b318e986e2e328b19e2e9aa2

The City of Neo Arcana is set in the far-off year of 23XX, humanity has developed to the point of dominating the entirety of the Earth, creating the technology to use its biggest resources far up until their possible expansion into the stars. However, with the advent of mass comfort for everyone, development stagnated for a century, catalyzing the creation of a city where only the best minds could come together to further humanity's spreading into the stars above.

Experience the return of Social Qualities, tailored specifically to this Side Plot!

Intelligence carries over, being used for both class threads (whether you are a student or a teacher) as well as for developing useful programs for hacking and using your supernatural powers in tandem with technology.

Charisma is renamed from simply Expression, being your ability to express yourself in speech or writing but also relating to the attitude you exude to friends and strangers alike. This doesn't mean your charisma will necessarily attract someone to you, as a powerful aura can both allure people and also make them fear you. This stat is mainly used for unlocking Social Links with NPCs as well as when negotiating with enemies.

Proficiency refers to your ability to work with machines and replaces the Understanding from Endymion, now being used to both hotwire a car as well as to pick a lock, reverse engineer a walkie talkie or even design your own tech from scratch based on templates. This stat is mainly used outside of combat and can be invoked for work threads in order to create your own items or be used to dismantle a dungeon puzzle and rework it if high enough.

Courage is the exact same as before, referring to your mental fortitude in order to withstand things like intimidation and the thought of approaching someone of a high enough station. Courage is also used during certain QASes, but can also be used as a crutch when failing negotiations as you're able to counter-intimidate Demons with it and prevent some negative side effects (not all of them, though!).

A New World of Personas, Demons and Alien Weapons!

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch IgW32EC

In Neo Arcana, some well established systems from Endymion and even before are being reworked, updated or simply removed for the sake of creating a more engaging system that doesn't favor any single player or class just based on their initial choices, but the biggest feature is the return of Demon Masks in the form of Sub-Personas for any Persona-using Class (including Shadow Selves, who are capable of summoning them fully once gaining a Reverse Persona but change their skillsets and affinities with them nonetheless), Magatamas for Forgotten Experiments and bona fide Demons for the all-new Demonica-wearing Demon Summoner Class!

Forgotten in this Side Plot wield mysterious weapons of alien origin, either made from actual biological tissue of alien remains or simply technology originating from somewhere outside of our world. Where exactly they came from is unknown, at least for now...

And of course, the Demonica-wearing Demon Summoners take the stage with their new mechanics, being based on the Kuzunohas from Endymion but adjusted for general player usage. Much like the Kuzunoha classes' clans, Demon Summoner PCs will be able to choose from four settings for their Demonica: Fighter, Tank, Mage and Support, and gain a passive buff to their skills while also gaining extra points on their level ups based on which setting they pick! Though you cannot change the setting at will once you've gained access to your personal Demonica IC, there are ways of changing it down the line if you work hard to seek them out...

Revamped Systems and Your Personal Choices

With all these new additions, there have also been some things that were cut from previous plots, the biggest changes being the removal of both Wild Card classes as well as the Velvet Attendant class. Though these won't be removed from the site entirely even should this plot be undergone, they are strictly unavailable for player creation. Although, seeing as Sub-Personas allow for everyone to be a pseudo-Wild Card, this shouldn't make too big of a difference.

And second and last removal, Rank Ups no longer give any stats; instead, different types of Personas or Skillsets give differing stat bonuses each time you level up, with the Sub-Persona you equipped alongside your main one giving you extra bonus stats as well! These stats are only good for a limited number of levels, so it's encouraged to try out several Sub-Personas and earn the stat bonuses from all of them! This system was designed so that all classes had a similar growth when it came to their core stats, but in a way that still allowed for customization between different players. Just like in Endymion, each Level will still give 10 HP and SP, plus a bonus of 5 points that you can invest in any stat of your choosing. Levels will be far more abundant in this plot, so expect to receive 5-10 of them for each story-related dungeon run, barring of course revisits to dungeons.

Ride in Style on your Vehicle!

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch HN6hIZL

The first truly new addition to the sideplot is the revamping of PvS Skirmishes to become PvS Vehicle Combat mode. While still played on a grid-based Tactical RPG kind of system, players now make use of vehicles of all kinds to traverse vast open spaces at high speeds, all the while using either your vehicle's additional weapons to deal damage to your opponents, or summoning your Persona to attack them while zipping right past them.

Vehicles are an expensive but worthwhile investment that make it possible to travel quickly from location to location. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, though the vast majority are landlocked without enhancements to alter their movement type. They boast of some specific extra stats that contribute to making them a powerful asset in this new combat type:

HP - Self Explanatory, how many hits the Vehicle can take before it breaks. This cannot be healed with skills and must be repaired by taking the Vehicle to a mechanic and paying to repair it.

PEnd - The Vehicle's Resistance to physical supernatural attacks as well as real world attacks such as another vehicle's weapons.

MEnd - The Vehicle's Resistance to magical supernatural attacks as well as certain terrain effects.

Movement Speed - How many spaces the vehicle can travel in combat.

Seats - The number of people the vehicle can house at a time. Caution: if this stat is more than 1, the Vehicle requires someone to spend their turn driving it, while single-seat vehicles can be driven all while the user focuses on fighting. The general maximum for this stat tends to be 6, though it's very rare to find vehicles with more than 3-4 seats.

These Vehicles are expensive and can easily go for tens of thousands of VC just for a simple one, with similar prices for modifications and enhancements to their stats, but several players are able to conjointly buy a single vehicle if they wish. The trade-off is that the vehicle is owned by all parties, and every single player that pitched in has a key to the vehicle regardless of how much money they invested in it. What this means is that any of the players is able to take the vehicle as if it was their own without the consent of the other players, so it's best to only buy a vehicle together with someone you truly trust.

Just as well, these Vehicles are powerful tools, with you being able to deflect incoming attacks towards them if you don't wish to take the damage yourself. As mentioned before, however, you have to be careful not to damage your vehicle too much as you can't repair it on the fly without a very high Proficiency skill, and even then it's unlikely your enemies would let you do so. Enemies are also able to target your vehicle directly without you deflecting your attack towards it, but there are certain abilities that allow you to take damage for your vehicle instead in those situations.

New Base Elements!

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch Tumblr_ozw11gqgmv1vgzd4so2_500

Straight from Persona 5 and Junction I suppose and into this plot, we're moving Nuke to be a base element you can pick up on any Persona and can resist individually, and adding Psychokinesis changed from Psychosis as its own element with the same properties! These skills don't behave like Mutated Fire and Ailment like they did in Endymion, but are instead much like the regular elements of the Persona series up until this point, with a few changes to their skills. Many thanks to Godai for their new icons that look just like Persona 5's!

And a little bit of a rewording:

**Frost Bite | 10% (20% with single target skills) chance of inflicting a freeze ailment with each bufu skill used. Not effective against opponents that are strong/block/ etc ice. May cause freeze that makes your next attack undodgable. Wears off the opponent's next turn. [in PvS - in PvP it lowers opponent mobility and agility by 15% and partially freezes them in place until their next turn]. Can be put out by using a Fire skill on the person inflicted with the ailment that is able to clash against the original Ice skill used to apply it; person does not take damage from the Fire skill if doing this. Requirement for clashing with the Frost Bite lowers by 50% every turn that it's on, to a minimum of 0%. AoE Fire skills may target the Frost Bite while being used to attack normally, if described as such. Effects do not stack. | Passive | Tier 1

Stay tuned for more updates as our team continues to work on new skills and settling specific mechanics! Who knows, maybe we're working on two or three new Mutated Elements to fill in the gaps that Nuclear left behind...

New Mutated Elements!

Just like with the usual premade Mutated Elements, you may start picking these up once you unlock your Prime Persona as a Persona User! For other Character Classes, you unlock the ability to use these skills no earlier than Level 25, though you may find a Sub-Persona, Magatama or Demon Mask with them in their skillset and replace one of your skills with the new Mutated Element skill you wish to have upon maxing them out, if you so choose.

Anti-Life | Inflicts a severe amount of Decay damage to a single enemy with a 30% chance of instantly killing them (Mudo). | 34 SP | Tier 4

Minus Strike | Moderate physical (strike/pierce/slash you choose one and it stays that way when on your app) and Decay damage to a single opponent. | 16% HP | Tier 2

**Grateful Dead | 10% (20% with single target skills) chance of inflicting an aging ailment with each Decay skill used; ineffective against targets who resist/block/absorb/reflect Dark/Decay. When inflicted, the target(s) start aging rapidly, lowering one of their Attack, Defense and Agility (randomized in the same turn as the hit chance) by 5% for each turn they are afflicted with the ailment, up to a maximum of 10% (Devil raises it to 25%). When healed of Aging, their stats slowly return to normal at a rate of 5% at a time, unless dispelled with Dekunda. Can be healed with Patra. Stacks with regular debuffs. Can be applied multiple times but only for a different debuff of Attack, Defense or Agility. | Passive | Tier 1

Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch Empty
PostSubject: Re: Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch   Neo Arcana - Sideplot Pitch EmptyWed Sep 25, 2019 3:10 pm

And finally, the last new feature of Neo Arcana...

Experience a Postgame After Achieving the End!

That's right, though the sideplot will officially end with the defeat of the final boss and subsequent ending, the setting will be available to RP in and missions will continue to appear after such. The timeline will be reset to before any points of no return have been passed, allowing people to SL any potentially unavailable NPCs by the time the plot is over and experience their stories and benefits even after you finish the base game.

But that's not all... with the end of the game comes the release of new, high-difficulty missions that involve defeating bosses far stronger than the Final Boss, or solving puzzles that are more complicated than those you'll find in the final dungeon. Of course, the next sideplot may begin even while this is ongoing, as after this point the setting of Neo Arcana becomes little more than an open sandbox for anyone who wants to explore the rest of the world and endure the grueling challenges that come as a reward for beating the plot!

However, be sensible. You may have OoC knowledge of the plot at the point this becomes relevant, but your characters certainly won't, even though you will get to keep your compendium exactly as it was at the end of the plot into the postgame. Permadeath will also be turned off at this point, so you may challenge the new superbosses as many times as you wish to learn their patterns and skillsets.

That's it for the new features for Neo Arcana! And who knows, maybe a certain crusader's waiting for you out there after you take down whatever's lurking under the surface of this plot...

Neo Arcana Bug Fix Report; Ver. 0.95

Huh, a bug fix before the plot's even had the chance to come out, that's something you don't see every day, right? Well I have some very dedicated supporters who are mighty interested in making sure the game is balanced, and my only goal is to please and make sure stuff isn't broken, so naturally I have to acquiesce. This bug fix mostly has to deal with how Gun functions in the system, so, let's see...

"Another quick change to how this plot will work is that Gun will be in its own separate category from Physical Elements like Strike, Slash and Pierce. Gun will not be able to clash with anything other than Gun, but to compensate it'll get new skills that boost its power and a Social Link designed to make it more powerful in combat, at a cost."

This has been stricken from the plot pitch entirely. Gun will go back to its normal functionality of being a regular Physical element just like Slash, Strike and Pierce, but to make sure there isn't nothing new to Gun, here's a new change too...

The Skills Snipe and Cripple have been replaced with:

Strike Prodigy | Increases Strike based dexterity damage output by 50% | Passive | Tier 3

Slash Prodigy | Increases Slash based dexterity damage output by 50% | Passive | Tier 3

Pierce Prodigy | Increases Pierce based dexterity damage output by 50% | Passive | Tier 3

Gun Prodigy | Increases Gun based dexterity damage output by 40% | Passive | Tier 3

Oh and a quick new skill rename because Azami wanted it soooo badly:

Millennium Bug | Inflicts a severe amount of Data damage to a single enemy with a 30% chance of instantly killing them (Hama). | 36 SP | Tier 4

It does sound cooler, doesn't it?

I suppose I can also use this as a quick update: progress on NPCs is being made and you can expect a second plot teaser featuring some of the faces (but not personalities) you'll see in Neo Arcana coming soon! There won't be any novel mechanics introduced in the actual teaser, all the ones that needed revealing have been revealed already...

...except for one. Stay tuned.
