Mosey In [Infinte Jest Mission]

It was quiet, but the earlier evening wasn't for the House of Cards. It wasn't easy for Invidia, but he got his job done. Now he paid the price for duty and needed a moment of respite. One would think the establishment was unguarded, but within there were silent sentinels in black suits meandering about the area. But little did they know, there was a group meeting in a secluded alleyway in a quieter part of Suzie Q. There was no way anyone else would know unless you were part of the same clandestine organization as the one standing in the alleyway. It was path many haven't bothered to look in. If anything, it was dilapidated and forgotten...

The steps were quiet despite this being an alleyway that should have easily carried sound. Unless one knew what to listen for, the arrival of another where the first strange figure stood would be unnoticed. This new comer was a strange one indeed. A being that wore a mix of clothing that hid exactly what was underneath. Bandages covered the hands and a strange mask that was that was just as confusing as the clothing covered the face. The mask was a strange mix of animals with a grin carved into it made of fangs. That grin...it was something that made the mask beautiful yet terrifying all at once, but the one wearing it did not seem to care as they stopped within range of the first figure, a very faint scraping of the shoe against the ground announcing the arrival. Without saying a word to its companion, the being would give a respectful nod to the other, pretty sure this one was here for the same reason as it.

The steps would resound as the figure would move indeed closer towards the put that was required for their nearness, it was time for another act that was commendable of a wicked nature. The cover that secured the confront was pale, with the surface itself giving those who saw it the repeating update of hot wax. The color of the hair was more of an irregularity, a representation of somebody losing, or perhaps as of now misplaced, misplaced in the idyllic stature of chaos itself. The viridescent hair was finely combined with the juicy ruddy lips, flushed with blood. Strolling indeed closer to the others, the fulvous twinkle in eyes of the person said bounty almost how they felt. They felt, fervor. The clothing was more direct, dark, with a few fastens here and there.

The voice of the figure was rough, but delicate at the same time, bringing forward a joined together vocal, a culminate picture, of an individual who had nothing to lose. Bending their head from the cleared out to the right, holding up and observing was all that could be done for presently.

It looked like he didn't have to wait for long. The masked man with the eerily face-less, yet smiling face, faced the two that entered the alleyway. It didn't take very much to understand they were kin of the same "family". He nodded silently at the two in greeting. It was hard to gauge what he was feeling about them with the mask on his face. But no matter what feelings, the job will be done. "Just you two? Alright, let's get this over with."

He gestured them to follow into another part of the alleyway. They would not have to wait for long until seeing a manhole cover below. The Jest man rummaged through some rubbish to the side of the wall and eventually brought out a hidden crowbar. With it, the depths of the sewers were finally open to them. "Just follow down the path to your right. There'll be an old locked gate door for you to open into another path that'll get you inside to the back. Not even the District Head knows. It was an old refurbished restaurant back in the old days. We're talking Roaring Twenties here. Take the key and get going."

He held out a key for them to take and would allow them on their way.

Taking after the man to another portion of the rear way, the conceal figure would peer over the sewer vent cover that stowed away the mystery entrance towards the way they were taking. With the timely crowbar assembly the grinning figure’s hands, their endeavors were as of now assisted with the harder perspective of their work being done for them. The enlightening, and indeed the key, things ought to be a parcel easier presently for them. The person with the wax like mask said nothing as the key before long found itself in the secure palms of the unused wielder, going ahead to gradually bring themselves down into the sewer entrance. With the companion conceivably taking after, the one of wax would turn right, making their way to the bolted entryway in arrange to open it.

They would look over to the other as they approached, taking in the sounds of the voice and the looks, but much like with the greeting of the first man, this one would get a quiet nod of greeting as well. With greetings being given and received, the grinning man would speak before leading the way elsewhere. They would follow and when they arrived to their destination they would watch as the other opened the manhole before giving them instructions. They would listen to what was said, their eyes observing the manhole for a few moments before they looked up and took note of the key the other was holding out.

It would seem the one of wax would be taking the key and also leading the way downward into the depths. They did not mind this as they simply waited for a bit of room before following after the first. In silence, they would follow the one of wax, their eyes scanning the area and its footsteps quiet as they followed the path to the gate. When they arrived at their destination, they would waited for the other to open it.

As the duo entered the depths, the masked man closed the manhole cover after them. The job was over on his side. Now was the time to leave. He simply threw the crowbar to the side into the rubbish pile, burying it inside trash where no one would know. Not that anyone would be able to find any fingerprints on it anyway as he had gloves on. Drawing out a cellphone, he fiddled with it. thumbs swiped and press through windows to declare a successful mission complete. Finally a cheery singsong voice uttered from the screen.


That was the final cue. With the phone back inside his pockets, the Jest member began to leave the scene.


When the two would finally open the door and enter, the path they would then follow eventually led them to door. As they would open it, one of them would recognize where they were now. But this time they were in a far back part of the House of Cards. It was relatively quiet with shuffles of movement ahead. They would notice there was no handle on the other side, it was just solid wall that no one ever noticed. Their entry was successful and quiet. Now this was the moment when they must shuffle through the guarded interior of the Cards. Will they succeed?

They would enter quietly enough taking in the sounds and sights of their new surroundings. Their exit seemed to be one that blended in well enough. No wonder no one wouldn’t think to look here. As amusing as this was, the covered being with its strange animal like mask would take a quiet step forward hearing, but not seeing, the sounds of another in the area. They were aware of guards though how many there were was a mystery, but that wouldn’t matter. What would important was keeping their presence non existent here. A challenge they were interested to see unfold. Even more so when they were not alone.

As amusing as that matter was. It was time to focus now. Yes. Focus and not get caught. Right. They  would look back at their companion giving a small nod to signal for them to follow along. With that being done they would begin to move their footsteps as quiet as a cats as they moved forward into the area. They would not go rushing into the place for now going only a short distance before quietly pressing themself against the wall and becoming still and quiet. They were listening to see if the shuffling sound they heard had changed or not. Always safe than sorry no?

Action:

They would stay quiet, their mind here and not here as they listened to the sounds of the shuffling change. Well the beautiful thing was that the owner of said feet did not seem to move from wherever they were up ahead. No sounds of shuffling getting closer. No sound of it going away. Perhaps what they were dealing with was something stationary then? They had to wonder and would’ve probably played and experimented with said source if they weren’t on a job. How sad.

The game would’ve been much more fun if they could play with those here; however, a job was a job, but dull? No. They could always play other games here or tell themselves stories. Hmm. Stories. Yes that sounded like a fine idea. Which one should they start with though? The one about the tortoise and the hare? How about the one about the little girl that followed the rabbit into a rabbit hole? Or maybe the one about the fish girl that wanted to be human? They would grin quietly under their mask quite amused. The amount of stories they could tell themselves was endless, making it hard to choose one. Perhaps it would take a gamble and choose the one at random. Yes that was always a fun option too. At least at random they would not have to ponder so hard and whatever they did end up choosing would be a thrill to go through again and again and again. A beautiful endless cycle, yes?

With their mind made up on what they wanted to do as far keeping themselves entertained went, they would move from their spot keeping their steps quiet as usual. They would move around the bend and find themselves facing a straight hall. It didn’t seem very long, but once more seemed to go end in a bend.  Another corner that hid the cat? Or perhaps a corner to nothingness once more. They weren’t sure, but at the same time that did not stop their feet. They would continue on quietly enough taking their time and being careful not to rush as they moved on. They would continue on until in time they would’ve gone from one end of the hall to to the beginning of the bend. Just like before the figure would pause at this bend to press themselves against the wall and carefully peek around the corner. Their eyes would search the path for people while their ears would listen to the shuffling for sounds of change once more.  

Action:

The sounds of shuffling. They were closer than before, but just like before they did not seem to move from the location the sound radiated from. Perhaps the source was stationary after all. A wonderful thing no? They could just sneak by and have no worries right? Wrong. Only a fool would drop their guard just because of something like this. Much like a mouse trying to get the cheese, if one did not wish to get caught by the cat then one had to tread carefully. Besides it would be pretty sad if the game ended due to cockiness or some foolish error. How would that look to the world? To be taken out by such a basic flaw? Sad. Very sad. Or maybe comical. It could both depending on whose eyes were looking at the situation.

For them though, such a folly would be quite depressing and leave such a boring legacy behind...and boring. Boring was something they simply could not be. What a waste to go out in such a dumb, ordinary way. No. They would not be the fool. They would be prey that thought like a predator. That is what they would be and who knew? Maybe the prey would indeed become the very thing it thought like -- the predator. Now wouldn’t that be entertaining?

The cat trying so hard to outwit the mouse would unexpectedly find itself in an odd predicament as the mouse outwitted it instead. Would the cat be surprised? Upset? Too stunned to act? The possibilities were endless there, but perhaps the cat’s reaction didn’t matter. Perhaps all that mattered was the fact that mouse outwitted it and got away unscathed with the cheese. An amusing thought to keep them entertained as they shifted in their spot and began to move once more. This time around they would be even more quiet as they felt something rather close by. Was it the source? Perhaps so and the closer they got to the end of the hall, the more tense that feeling of something watching just out of sight would become. Pausing at the end of the hall the figure would keep itself pressed against the wall, knowing without a doubt that something was right around the one of the turns in this double turn pathway ahead. Their eyes would flick to the left and then the right, narrowing as they figured which direction gave them the most tension. Mhmm.

With certainty in their mind, they would motion for their companion to stay put before they focused and moved from their spot. Like some horrible ghost appearing out of nowhere, the horrifying patchwork of animals and fangs that was its face would be the only thing the watcher would see before it was pounced upon...

Action:

It happened suddenly and quickly. The guard posted at his location was doing his duty. But compared to an awakened individual, he was hardly the effort. While his Master was away, he and like his many co-workers, he was trusted to guard this place. But out of all them, this man was the first to hit the floor. The intruders can realize they can keep going further.

This was the way that the one of wax basically worked, being the great small companion as they unobtrusively held up and observed the other person from their offended ult do their thing. From the way that they took a point, to their idiosyncrasies, all down to how they went around taking out an individual that they were assumed to in arrange to continue. All of those small qualities, each small thing that this little individual had overseen to do. In any case, there was the issue of pacing that the person had taken in intellect, and the watch that was thumped out wasn't going to be thumped out until the end of time. Expanding the pace was something that they had to do in arrange to rapidly get in and get out of this zone.
