Heya! I'm your friendly neighborhood Larsinny, a demon here to keep you updated on the current debacles going on within the site! Okay, maybe not debacles... Anyway! The Endymion Plot, our Third Main Plot, is underway! We also have our sideplot taking place called Junction! If you're a new member looking to join the new plot, you will want to choose Endymion. However, if you're interested in our sideplot, you may also join that one aswell. The choice is ultimately up to you! The Dungeon Master of the Junction plot is CWIS and the DM of the current Endymion plot is Godai and Grantus.

All templates on the site have been updated, and this also includes the rules aswell. When referring to the rules, please disregard any that say "Old" or "Obsolete" as we are no longer using those rules for the Endymion Plot. Oh, don't be mistaken! I love breaking the rules! But in this case, follow them or erasure!

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

PostSubject: Ostofdale [Sideplot Mini-Synopsis And Rough Draft]   Fri Jul 07, 2017 7:38 pm

I am not running a sideplot, but this is what I had planned so far

----------------

"The point of mythology or myth is to point to the horizon and to point back to ourselves: This is who we are; this is where we came from; and this is where we're going. And a lot of Western society over the last hundred years - the last 50 years really - has lost that. We have become rather aimless and wandering."
-- J. Michael Straczynski

------------------

For the recent centuries, demons find themselves on a almost devastating decline in regards to their stagnating presence within the Human realm. Mankind's advances in knowledge and sciences have contributed to their continuing irrelevance. Despite this, an underground society of devil summoners and the like act as an intermediary between Mankind and what's left of the demons in our World. It would seem as if their role as arbitrators would soon come to an end. Many bloodlines and organizations would finally be freed of their duties--but that wasn't the case.

Reports of bizarre distortions and a growth of demonic presence are strangely rising all of a sudden. But most importantly, something unfathomable occurred upon the screens of many smartphones. Massive files were loaded and forced through into its very circuits to create a client, the Demon Summoning Program. No one knows where this leak ever came from. But for the underground community, it is both a blessing and a somewhat insignificant curse. This created a massive workload for many organizations to seek out any unsuspecting civilian trying out the Program and becoming immersed in a world beyond the understanding.

But in Ostofdale, in the middle of the United States, significant distortions could be found at a nearby series of caves. Operatives and soon the rest of the community realized the endless lodes of magnetite that allowed ever more powerful demons to incarnate and exist within the human plane. With demons still a rare and powerful commodity within this bizarre society, this was a ripe opportunity for many involved. And it was one that the Cromwell family didn't waste as they locked down the region and prevented many demons from escaping their realm. Yet they allowed them to live peacefully as long as they kept the status quo despite their gradually growing numbers.

Peace would live on a little longer.
But for how long?
There is something lurking around, waiting for the best moment to strike...

------------------

A "Choose Your Own Action" section will be done to lead into the main events. The entire site can dictate the actions of a character very similar to the "Twitch Plays" experience. This is meant to test out the mechanics of the sideplot I have created. If you manage to complete it, and if I ever run my sideplot, every new character will get to start out with 5,000 Macca. As a sidenote, Macca shall replace Velvet Coins since this is a SMT sideplot.

Ostofdale: "Home of the growing melting pot of the Bizarre."

It is a city largely managed by a Devil Summoning Clan, the Cromwell's, due to the growing demonic presence which inevitably led to a mass migration of devil summoners and the like to congregate there. Demons are screened and kept under surveillance, but largely left alone as they maintain the promise of the secrecy of their existence from the Human masses. There are organizations massing around the region, but largely a massive amount of unaligned Summoners arrive to look for opportunities of securing resources or finding a powerful demon to conquer as their own. These neutral entities are known as "Freelancers". You will all start out as one, without any alignment to any faction, giving you an opportunity to examine other factions before making your decision to join them or not. Demons can also be Freelancers as well, given the current situation. Everyone congregates in a Freelancing Guild for the exchange of goods, information, or to find a good paying commission to handle the supernatural. You do not owe anything to the Guild and are generally left alone, unless you break the rules of the 'Charade'.

There will be several factions, including one serving the Cromwell's, those who oppose them, and several more. It is up to you to see them for what they are before joining them. Gain some respect and notoriety to have a bigger say in this Community and you may actually have invitations to join their respective cabals.

New Mechanics To Be Added

Angel:

PvS Battles: SMT-style

Press Turn Mechanic.

Each member on the team will comprise of the number of press turns on the team. (i.e. 3 team members make up 3 press turns) If a team member hits a weakness/critical, they earn an half-press turn. The extra half-press turn can only be used after the rest of the team acted. And then they use the extra half-Press Turns by going back to the turn order they posted until all the remaining press turns are used.

But if someone manage to hit a blocked/reflected/absorb element, it is automatically the enemy's turn regardless of any gained or remaining press turns you have. Any actions done after hitting the blocked/reflected/absorb element and before the start of the enemy turn are nulled since it would've been the enemy's turn upon blocking/reflecting/absorbing. And likewise when the enemy hits the same on the player team.

If they manage to miss, the next team member must skip his turn as they lose their press turn. Thus the team will have lost two press turns by then, which includes the press turn that initiated the miss. This includes the instant-kill or ailment effects from skills, especially when activated by the Smirk Status. There's no skipping to pass over to the team member. They just outright lose that press turn for this turn.

Smirking Mechanic.

Triggered when you hit a weakness or crit. Or when an enemy hits your block, reflect, or absorb element. Next attack won't miss and has a guaranteed crit for physical attacks. Smirked units cannot be hit by their weakness. Lasts until next turn, which means all of the team's press turns have been used up, but it can be ended prematurely when hit with an ailment or any Smirk-removing skill. Turn count cannot be stacked. Some skills may have affects that can only be triggered with Smirk on. However for insta-kill, their effect will still be limited by their own insta-kill chance. Missing that won't affect press turns.

Assist Mechanic

On top of the Tension Gauge used in previous plots, an Assist Gauge and HP bar/Endurances will also be used. NPCs or Players that will serve as a Tension-Assist Support will serve as that "fifth" member whose actions will be dictated by the Tension Gauge. They also have a HP bar, Endurances, and resistances. Enemies can attack them, but they must specifically target them regardless if single or AoA type. If a Tension-Assist goes down, they will return at full health in three turns and cannot be prematurely revived through skills or items. However, if there are more than one person outside of the four team members of the party, the Assist Gauge can be used to allow an All-Out Attack effect by using their collective dexterity stats (not including the primary 4 team members). If a Tension-Assist member gets hit with a weakness or is hit with a critical, they lose both tension and assist bar together.

Archangel:

Angel:

Virtue:

PvS Skirmish Revamped

Every character will have 4 spaces of movement to start out with. A battle initiated with an enemy will be called a skirmish, it will be done similar to the Devil Survivor games. Skirmishes can only be done when adjacent to an enemy, but skills can circumvent this. Teams with the highest average Luck will go first unless a skill or some ability allows initiative otherwise. Once the exchanges of attacks/skills have finished from both sides, then that Skirmish ends until initiated once more. That said, there will be Racial Skills depending on the demons you use.

Team Combinations Mechanic

There can be multiple players on a single PvS Skirmish battle. But they must form teams of three's, thus each team must choose a leader to represent them on the Skirmish battle grid. That leader will post for the team especially during Skirmishes. Leaders suffer 30% less damage when taking hits, but unlike normal PvS Battles, no one can take a hit for anyone unless a skill is used. If the Leader KOed, then that entire team is subsequently KOed.

Extra Turn Mechanic

When an unit initiates battle with another, both sides of the battle can exchange attacks at each other like a normal PvS battle. Extra Turns are rewarded and treated in a similar manner to Press Turns and they can only be obtained once. An unit may start out with an Extra Turn in an initiated battle if they have a 40+ difference over their enemies.

Demon Fusion

Your primary demon cannot be fused together with others unless it's to replace resistances or to switch skills with another demon. Special skills will cost 2x the usual cost of fusion. When fusion is done on secondary demons, you can choose what it looks like as a result. But the tier of skills and the amount of resistances must stay the same/similar of the previously fused demons. You are limited to 1 extra demon upon awakening and 1 extra demon slot per rank up. But you may only bring 2 demons with you and then 3 upon maxing out, both instances including your primary demon.

Devil Arms Classes can use this function, but instead they are fusing Devil Arms instead of Demons. And thus each Devil Arm has the option of a soulbound element they can choose related to it as a result of the fusion. Every listed Demon in the Demon Compendium can be created as a Devil Arm and their soulbound element is based off on their highest tier elemental attack upon their fusion.

Secondary demons can attain new skills without fusion by leveling up. Each locked skill will have a required amount of level ups since you first received the demon.

Character Creation, Classes, And Etc.

Affinities And Fate System

Instead of Arcana Boosts, they will be replaced with affinities. You can make any kind of skill to be your affinity, they do not have to be limited by the orthodox types of skills on the list, and the boost will still be the same. Similar boosts to the Arcana Boosts are do-able. But please use the Arcana Boosts as a guideline.

Fate Links will replace Social Links and there are only Five Ranks. They will be fairly similar to the Social Link Ranks. But it will be a little harder to get them this time around.

Benefits:

  • 1: Not today! | Users can protect each other from an attack, only experiencing 50% damage once per battle.
  • 2: You may form a Team Attack with your team member, same rules.
  • 3: Snap out of It! | Users may now help each other up if downed (from weakness, critical, etc), or snap their friend out of a mental status ailment (such as charm, distress, rage, etc). They can do this once per battle, and still attack the same turn.
  • 4:  SDTP (Summoned Demon Transfer Protocol) | Users can send one of their demons to another they are linked with. The receiving user's previous demon will be dismissed. But once the battle is over, the sent demon will be returned.
  • 5:  We're in this together! | Users can now share battle experience with one another, when in the same battle. This only applies to Rank Up requirements regarding Battle.

Reputation Points And Social Qualities

Reputation can be earned by doing noteworthy in the plot, which can be easily be done through completing missions. Doing so may allow you to meet and Fate Link with NPCs without needing to reach Social Qualities. This also allows you to have a greater say within factions or communities which may have significant sway in the plot. Social Quality requirements are also halved as this is a side-plot.

Ranks:

  • "A Nobody": 0-20
  • "Obscure Figure": 21-40
  • "Reputable": 41-60
  • "Respected": 61-80
  • "Prestige": 81-100

Devil Summoner Class

Self-explanatory, it is the basic class. They awaken through the activation of their Demon Summoning Program, acknowledging their latent potential before bringing out a best aligned demon for them to summon and use. This class will be very different from the rest. You will get your own skill-set, that is done without a demon and having no resistances or weaknesses, and your own starting demons will have its own complete with a Racial Skill and stats you allocate yourself with the usual +12 point set. Instead of SP for yourself, you will be relying on MAG to both perform your own skills and to summon/to maintain a demon per turn. While having its own stats, it means single action or AoE attacks can damage and KO demons. But single action skills must exclusively target them and not their summoner if they wish to damage them. And of course, if the Summoner is KOed, the demon is also dismissed.

There will be no items replenishing MAG, but if you hit a weakness and/or critical hit, the subsequent dexterity attacks on demons will regain MAG until the end of your team's turn phase. Your primary demon will cost 10% of your total MAG to summon and 5% for upkeep per turn. Other demons you obtain will have different rates. Upon maxing out, you may fuse a demon and your primary demon to obtain a demon with a block element with skills from both of the demons and a racial skill according to the new demon's race.

Demon Class

Not very different from Shadow Selves, but the differences exist. They can only act once per turn/per press turn, unlike Gran's sideplot. But with their Beast Eye class skill, they can add two extra press turns to the team or in PvP act three times. Can only act once until the end of the thread. Three Press Turns in PvS and four turns in PvP with Dragon Eye once they max out. The cost of their skills are doubled until the end of the thread. If they're ever defeated, they are completely subservient to the victor. They also have a racial skill, due to being a demon.

Devil Arms Class

Basically, the Forgotten Class with a different name. The Demon Summoning Program realizes your potential is lacking to control several demons. It acknowledge them as faulty to the system. Instead it will give you only one demon that is controlled in the form of a weapon you can use. Last Life doesn't change much, but upon maxing out it will transform into the Possession Class Skill. The effects of Last Life can be triggered actively by paying 50% of both HP and SP for use for three turns. But after them, all skills will be degenerated to Tier 1 until the end of the thread. Upon maxing out, you do have an option to be a maxed out demon instead. Your Devil Arm also has a Racial Skill like any demons for you to use.

Few more classes to be revealed...

T.E.R.A.

The application name of the Demon Summoning Program on your phone. But also the name of the A.I. that handles the system. Bright and whimsical, it's rare that people hate her personality. She also has a number of sub-applications that can be useful in dungeon crawling, the development of your demons, and so on. Only up to two sub-apps can be equipped at a time.

But most importantly she can be a reliable source of communication within the community for its outfitted systems of secure private communication and widespread public announcements, making her more preferable than other conventional methods. Learn to love her...
