Current Events
Updated: 20/07/2020

**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

The dead of night in East Eden was unlike any atmosphere found across the rest of Endymion. Whereas in another district you'd find a booming night life and fully lit skyscrapers, East Eden carried a sense of ominous stillness to it when the moon rose to the skies, though it came with the good fortune of the colorful expanse of the stars above being visible in all its glory.

...it was this setting that loomed over Shiina's nigh inert figure as she sat on a bench, not far from the manor. Despite her commodities, she was waiting for a bus... not because she wanted to go somewhere, but because she didn't.

The Wild Card stared ahead with a listless, mile-long gaze, at nothing in particular. Her mind was still ruminating on the events of the past two days, though occasionally they jumped back to the day she first attained her Persona. Becoming a Cadet came with the knowledge that she would see a side of the world unknown to anyone else in the world, the ugly truth hiding beneath the mist of impotence and the demons that plagued Endymion's very existence. Shiina hadn't thought of it much before then, relying on the teachings of the Tsurinai Family to rationalize the supernatural under the veil of education.

As such, encountering the likes of Infinite Jest, and seeing what came of Superbia's failure gave her much more to consider than she had previously figured. The ugly truth of Endymion's history, the carnage that came from the very heart of humanity, it left her with a deep-seated anger that she was unsure towards who to point...

...it made a small crack in the illusion over the festering bile of Endymion.

Yet, for some reason or another, here Shiina stood. Strangely calm, unbending, Orderly. But in one way, she could feel a tinge of malice forming within her heart. Jinguu-Tennou had always been a ferocious Persona, and though the Wild Card had thus far gained a grasp of her own heart, she feared the fury that she had suppressed up until now. For that reason alone, she couldn't say she felt empty, though she was unsure whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

...despite that, however, as her internal monologue progressed, the faint glow of distant headlights alerted her to the last bus' arrival. Shiina got up, walked to a nearby vending machine, and bought a couple sugary sodas before returning to her seat.

The City That Never Sleeps... Ever since she became a Cadet, Cecilia had begun to learn the true meaning of that title, of the secrets hidden beneath its seemingly innocuous declaration of busy life. She was sure that many terrorists would decry it as a misnomer. People like those in the Platinum Playhouse, regardless of the authenticity of their words and intentions, would no doubt leap at the chance to smear the city and sort of facet of its identity; they'd scream and shout how about everyone was asleep, about how they were blind to reality, about how they needed to wake up and face what was really going on. Yet those same terrorists, whether out of ignorance or malice, were the ones truly hellbent on returning Endymion to its slumber. The recent revelations had made that more clear than ever: those early years after the Divide were nothing more than a nightmare. The city back then was absurd and unbelievable, twisted and distorted in every sense of the word, and filled with cracks and holes of impossibility. Who could believe that so many people would commit such meaningless sins? That humans would simply kill, and slaughter, and maim each other without rhyme or reason? It was the sort of thing that couldn't be mistaken for reality as it was, a play enacted on a ruinous stage where none were truly themselves... and true enough, when the curtain closed the dream ended, ended and faded from people's minds. It passed away without so much as a whisper and as Isla drew people from the terrors of the night they forgot them just as they'd forget any other dream. She'd ended Endymion's nightmare and ensured no one would ever return to it.

...or, at least, that was what Cecilia would like to think. But it seemed these nights had gone on for too long. She'd never admit it openly, but for once she genuinely feared for Endymion's safety; she worried that its peace was coming to an end and that the nightmare might yet again begin. Such doubts were irrational, but the longer she stayed around people the more they began to arise in her head, her mind flickering between memories of her failures and visions of what those around her might've been like during the course of that dream. The thought that anyone in theory could be twisted to those lows, that anyone who passed her by might've been one of the ones to revel in that false queen's reign... you'd have to be a fool not to fear it. A fool or a machine and, unfortunately despite her Persona's appearance, Cecilia was neither. She knew her shortcomings and above all else she knew she needed to do better; to be like Maria, or Julius, or Shiina... so when she received the message from the Tsurinai, she knew couldn't afford to refuse.

A tool was only useful if it fulfilled its purpose. The shield would not yield.

Heading over to the designated meeting spot, Cecilia would arrive in her rabbit-eared sweatshirt, the hood concealing her face as it'd done for most of the day. It'd taken some time to get there from so deep within the Backlight, but after finding the bus stop and hopping on things went relatively smoothly and swiftly, the girl stepping out alone from the vehicle as it darted off and looking around the station for Shiina before spotting her returning to the seats with several cans in her arms. With a halfhearted wave and a forced smile she'd approach and sit down beside her awkwardly, the events of the earlier morning still fresh in her mind. Words came to her lips, but they remained unspoken as she simply stared at Shiina and then at the ground, quietly hoping that she'd choose to focus solely on the impending investigation instead of what'd occurred. Hopes could only carry you so far though: the past night had made that abundantly clear.

Shiina's eyes regained a bit of their focus as the bus stopped in front of her and the doors opened. It was a relief just to see that she hadn't been stood up, honestly... though she didn't know whether she was really expecting that to happen. Regardless, it was pretty apparent by her gaze that she wasn't immediately feeling the best, but that wasn't what was important right now. After Cecilia seemed to be struggling to say anything, the Wild Card took one of the cans and lightly thrust it against her chest.

//"You don't need to say anything. Sit down and clear your mind."// Whether she took it or not, Shiina finished hers shortly after before crushing it with a short jolt from her hand. //"You heard about the explosions deep into this district, right? That's what we're checking out today. It might not be anything, but I can't sit still tonight and I bet you feel the same way."//

Shiina casually tossed the can into a nearby garbage can before retrieving her phone from her jacket pocket. The information she needed was all accessible from it, properly locked in such a way that only she could access it of course. What she opened was just some short notes on the general direction from where she had heard the explosions herself, given she had been living in this district for so long at this point.

//"We're heading to the camping grounds, or at least that's about where I'm pretty sure it came from. It didn't happen again since, though... makes me wonder if we're going in a bit too late. Ah well."// After her little briefing, the Wild Card made sure Cecilia was ready to go before she retrieved her motorcycle keys from her pocket. //"You're riding in the cart. That's fine with you, right?"// She looked back at Cecilia with a wry grin.

Relievingly it seemed Shiina chose to let sleeping dogs lie. Cecilia wouldn't crack an immediate smile, but she would noticeably seem to relax a little, easing up in posture and nodding along with what the Wild Card had to say... though in truth, living in Suzie Q meant that this was actually her first time hearing about this, something which wasn't too surprising given she didn't usually keep her ear to the ground (even if that had started to change recently). But Shiina was definitely right about one thing: Cici wasn't content to let it rest. The two of them had already seen what happened when one threat was overlooked in favor of another; perhaps this was a similar situation to the interrogation where the issue had already been handled, but it was better to be safe than sorry, especially if they were heading near the city's Outer Rim.

Cracking open the can and greedily gulping down its sugary contents, she'd toss it aside rather swiftly and follow Shiina to her vehicle. Her eyes naturally ended up drifting toward the towering manor behind it for a split second, but they wouldn't linger there for long, instead falling upon the contrastingly small sidecar attached to the motorcycle. It was almost amusing and the Tsurinai seemed to agree judging by that smirk of hers -- but the keyword here for Cecilia was almost. Seriously, she knew she was short, but...

Fragmented Ego [Cecilia] XZUJ37j
"...does your dog ride in this?"

For a split second she wasn't aware, but not a moment later it'd dawn on her that these were her first words of the night, a mundane grumble coerced from her lips. Knowing that she'd change her tune rather suddenly, unable to stop herself from snickering in surprise at how this all of things was what got her talking, this minor little complaint about how much legroom she'd have on the way to the sight of the investigation. If the acquiesce to silence earlier was what got her to start easing up then this was what truly lifted a bit of weight from her shoulders: after so much running around, and angsting, and freighting in the course of a single day she'd forgotten about the mundane worries of life and how truly inconsequential they could be at times. And knowing that now, knowing that there was shit like this to pout over and gripe about... well, it paradoxically made her content, snuffing out any further attempts at protest as she hopped in and with fading giggles greeted Shiina with a glimmer of her usual conviction.

Yes, ultimately that's what this invitation mattered for, being able to remember the reasons why someone could smile even now. Shiina didn't know that at first, and it was doubtful she was aware of it now, but the happiness she felt and confidence that rekindled in her after witnessing Cecilia's mood change was exactly what she needed.

Despite her role as the guiding flame of order inside the infinite darkness of chaos, a Wild Card was nothing without the fuel of the bonds she made. No matter how she earned her Personas, no matter what side she was on, the inherent unpredictability of the people around her was what shaped her conviction.

So, she chuckled.

//"Indeed she does, but it's bigger than it looks. Trust me."// The Tsurinai stopped in front of the motorcycle to pick up two helmets from the seat. She turned around and plopped the smaller one, a simple white round helmet with a clear eyeshield, onto Cecilia's head. //"Keep your mouth closed during the ride. You're not gonna want to choke on a bug while we're out in the woods."//

Shiina's own helmet was more elaborate, colored a royal blue with a golden phoenix design printed on the right side. It covered Shiina's head completely, and it also boasted a dimmed visor that served as makeshift sunglasses during the day.

//"Alright, let's roll..."// Once they were both ready and mounted on the motorcycle, Shiina started the engine. Its roar was fairly loud and obvious, but then again that was absolutely necessary to power the blistering speed it reached soon after the Wild Card allowed it to move...

To the Camping Grounds they went.
