Current Events
Updated: 20/07/2020

**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?]   Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] EmptyFri May 06, 2016 1:25 am

Morning

Maria never really liked mornings. Mornings that made her exert her strength she liked even less. It was asinine to think that the eggheads who saved her life would connect her to a massive "thing" to perpetuate her ever short life. She was a strong girl, that was clear. But there was a limit as to how much longer she can keep dragging a large coffin and ignore the stares from the Church to the School. It was inconvenience incarnate. Not that it was heavy, but weight was still weight. It was a price for her extended life.

Yet she kept wondering why those idiots couldn't have at least connected her to some smaller weapon. But nope. They apparently had grand designs for this impractical weapon, both heavy and clunky. Part of her wanted to smack them upside their craniums and watch them spin. But she was taught to be thankful and so she was... for now.

She was just walking up the hill, trying to drag this coffin up with her back facing to the sky while pulling it up from the ratcheted straps. It wasn't so much for the weapon's actual weight. But the coffin's was the real issue here, again a victim of the eggheads' weird designs. Perhaps it was made as a fortress to protect their little project, but a weapon was a weapon as Sister Louise taught her. They were bound to be damaged and used.

While she dragged it up, Maria would soon be greeted by the appearance of a rolling cart coming towards her quickly with an intent to smash.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] XuXABC5

"GYAAAAA!!!" she hollered in surprise as it hit her square in the chest. Her grip on the straps loosened and she found herself rolling down the hill with it while the coffin quickly skidded down to the bottom with her. Maria's glasses jumped from her brow and flew off to God knows where. Her whole world spun in a blur as she whirled down the decline and finally stopped with a hard jingle against a chain-linked fence.

Maria just laid there and groaned in pain. She hissed to wait for it to subside before she could move.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] UPbjZBV

There was quite a lot going on in the concert halls, apparently. Just before now, Shiina had been turned away by the manager of this place to make room for some hotshot foreign idol named... hell, she didn't even know, she didn't really care that much. The Tsurinai simply smiled and nodded with a sigh as a response, after all, letting her frustration build up on the inside instead. How was she supposed to practice her stage calm when she couldn't even get on stage? It was preposterous! But, Shiina simply couldn't stay mad at the guy, he had a point.

And so, she walked out onto the street, holding a bag filled with folded costumes and accessories, which, despite being plainly hidden inside of the opaque bag, still looked as if they were matching by their colors and design, which peeked out from the top.

//"Unf... yare yare, give me a break..."// The young Tsurinai let out a long sigh and drooped her head in disappointment. For a moment, she was alone in her thoughts, just mulling over the unfortunate circumstances of this day so far... at least, until a scream from nearby brought her to maximum alert. From the corner of her eye, Shiina used her flawless vision to spot a mild accident just nearby. Being, well, Shiina, she rushed over as quickly as she could towards Maria's side. Well, she hadn't expected to find her here, but she supposed Endymion was a small city, huh. //"Ah, Maria, are you okay?!"// The Tsurinai dropped her bags and knelt down by the girl, then attempted to simply help her sit up. She pushed the cart away with one hand just in case as well.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] Tumblr_ninnijiXJV1r2ldpho1_250

//"Oh... phew, you're still alright. Yokatta, thank goodness..."// She wiped a trickle of sweat from her forehead alongside her silver bangs. Shiina looked behind her to make sure her bag was still fine, but her eyes widened slightly in shock and disappointment when she found it had landed straight in a small pool of mud. //"Nooo! Aww, those took so long to wash and iron out... chikushooo..."// The Tsurinai lamented her sudden lack of fortune, but would still help Maria up if needed. That said, someone would need to help pick up all these bottles too...

Maria continued to groan and hiss through her teeth while crossing her arms over her chest from the dull pain she was feeling. Why did today have to start out like this? It was already hard enough that the coffin had to be cumbersome and had to be carried with her every day. But she was a tough girl, it was subsiding soon and she was about to get up as.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] EFdSUuk

Maria quizzically blinked at the silver-headed Tsurinai, "Huh? Who are y--?"

She trailed off to remember back five years ago in the R&D Planetarium. It was a day where she had her camera, but also a day where she experienced hell. The nun-in-training curled her lips into a soft smile at the other girl. "Shiina, is that you? Yes, I'm fine..."

Not that she needed her help, but it was appreciated. Maria was finally able to get up and pouted, embarrassed. "I'm sorry about that. Can I help you get it cleaned? There should be a laundromat near here, I think."

Maria was quite unaware that the articles of interest likely needed something more delicate than your general common people's washing machine. She found her eyes darting to the source of her misfortune, her brow furrowed in annoyance, only to loosen in confusion. This guy had a few screws loose, Maria would notice. But what she also noticed to her horror that somehow he had his hands on his heavy coffin that normal people can't carry without any help.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] 4mBVa0d

"Um, can you give that back to me? It's really important that I have it back."

Great. Hit in the chest by a cart and have someone call you a vampire or gravedigger for the coffin. Damn those eggheads. Damn them all!

"And no. I'm not a vampire nor do I dig up graves. I just... have a special condition, is all," she glumly chimed in, "Can I have it back, please?"

Maria started to walk over to him. It was a heavy thing, so it's only fair that she picks it up herself. After all, that guy would probably hurt himself if he tried to pick it up and try to heft it onto his back. She remembered when there were back problems, she can only shudder at the memory. But she was a tougher girl now and not as many... problems.

"What's your name, by the way?"

Shiina scratched the back of her head with a small nervous smile, then nodded. It had been quite a while since she saw Maria, yeah. Truth be told, the Tsurinai was hoping the girl hadn't forgotten her, so she was glad her fears didn't come true this time.

//"Aha, yeah. Shibaraku shite, ne? It's been a while."// The Tsurinai took a step back once Maria got up, eager to give the girl the space she most likely needed. She wrapped her hands together behind her back and tilted her head. //"Oh, no, don't worry about that, I'll take care of it! Besides, not like a laundromat will clean them right..."// Shiina muttered that last sentence to the side with a kind of impersonal scorn. She was annoyed, but she could deal with it.

That said, what most caught her off guard was the other person's reaction... and his laughter made Shiina's own expression turn from a smile to deadpan in two seconds flat.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] SYl6QZ4

//"..."//

She wasn't quite amused, and the further comments didn't really help her opinion much either. So, the Tsurinai simply sighed and walked over towards the cart, then started to lead it around the various bottles of water, slowly getting them inside while making sure to keep the cart angled in a way that they wouldn't fall again. Maybe if she had some tools, she could call Jakob over to fix it... maybe.

//"Thankfully, they aren't being confined right now because the door is missing, and if they simply stand in the road, they might get run over, and that wouldn't be nice."// Shiina spoke in a matter-of-fact tone that just very slightly indicated a tinge of playfulness. //"Let's make sure no-one trips on these, okay?"// After a few bottles, the Tsurinai looked towards the remainder of the trail and drooped her head with a grumble, then stared back at the two.

//"Also, my friend's nothing like a vampire or anything similar, so please return what's hers. No matter what's inside that thing, she must have a good reason to carry it around."//

"It has been a while," Maria agreed with a nod, but she was still concerned for her, "Are you sure though? It looks like it might take some work..."

Maria glanced at the wet dirty bag. Mud. She remembered how difficult it was to get those stains out. Laundry back at home with her family and at the Church attested to it. Not all of the washing machines in the world could get it out so easily in one try. White fabric? Even worse. The girl felt remorseful at Shiina's help. Maria wasn't sure what to make of Jack's odd nature, but she hopped on over to the coffin as the boy was busy picking up the water bottles.

It weighed heavily for her, but it was a grudgingly "comfortable" and familiar weight as she shouldered it with the loose straps. A couple of them dangled behind her, but she didn't mind them too much right now. Despite the cumbersome burden Maria started to pick up a couple in her arms while making sure the massive container didn't flip off her back. But it was going to be obvious she was going to carry less than the other two did and for good reason.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] TEn5lc8

"..."

Her brow twitched at the new nickname that Jack came up with. Again with the vampires! This guy must be really into them or something. He's awfully like a kid. The girl replied with a smile while holding back her slight annoyance, "It's Maria. She's Shiina."

She dug deep through her collar to pull out a cross necklace that Sister Louise had given her since her arrival in the Church. "Does this still make me a vampire?"

It was rather mild curiosity. But what other explanation will this boy come up with now?

//"I'm glad you see the point."// Shiina looked away and rolled her eyes. She could just give the cart back to its rightful owner once the man had left. Ah well, she'd dealt with more bothersome things in the past, it was okay... she guessed, at least.

//"Quite sure, I've cleaned them after tougher things got on them before. That said..."//The Tsurinai stared a bit at Maria as she picked up the coffin and tilted her head. That really looked quite heavy, was she okay carrying it all by herself? Hrm, well, she didn't seem very inconvenienced, or didn't show it, so all was good, apparently. //"Ah, never mind, it's nothing."// As such, the platinum-haired young woman just shrugged and returned to depositing bottles into the cart, silently humming to herself as she went along.

//"You're terrible at being serious is more like it."// Shiina rolled her eyes and cleared her throat after muttering that little snap. //"I once knew a person who craved the sun. She went to the beach every day and ended up getting sun burns all over her body. We just called her a bimbo."//

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] Mc36T69

//"Dono you ni fujouri..."//

She didn't bother translating that one, as she didn't feel the need for her thoughts on the matter to be known here. Instead, she simply grumbled under her breath and looked at Jack.

//"My name is Shiina Tsurinai. I'd really appreciate it if you could stop calling my friend such vulgar nicknames."// The Tsurinai placed a hand on her hip and frowned. //"After all, she's no demon. I can confirm that for sure, since I know her from before the Eternal Divide even happened. Besides, demons only come out at night. Associating her with such creatures is erroneous on a logical level, not to mention the rudeness of the action itself."//

Shiina crossed her arms and begun tapping one foot on the ground impatiently. It was quite clear she didn't quite enjoy hearing her friend being called names by some random stranger. Who would?

In another life, maybe Maria would have said he might be a fun guy. But, this wasn't that life. He was just more peculiar. Maria was starting to realize he was just weird than being really rude. She stuffed the cross down her shirt now that its purpose was over.   "By holy one, you mean a follower of Isla, then yes. I do follow her."

That wasn't really the complete truth. Did she attend the practices and take part in them? Yes, but she didn't really believe in Isla. At least not completely. There was gratitude in what she had done for this city, but not only that, Maria had a new lease in life stored inside that coffin that she carried around. Service in her Church was one way to pay her back, but there was still that other service she was waiting for. It just took some time.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] Jkrq5Ep

Even if she didn't consider herself a true believer, she loathed demons and for perfectly good reason. That night of the Eternal Divide was hell. Maria felt herself get heated at first with a cold icy glare at Jack, but what he said next about humans caused her to pause. As strange and annoying he was, his words weren't without weight. This was the result of human hubris. She can't argue against that.

"You have a point. But I don't really agree. Let's just agree to disagree. We're taking it too seriously as you said," she conceded with a sigh and started to give him a resigned smile, "So. Do you own this cart then?"

She pointed a finger at it while starting to put her armful of bottles back inside.

Shiina's brow twitched softly at the man's words, as she found herself getting more and more impatient. The Tsurinai didn't exactly know how to feel about this... and by this, she meant the fact that someone had actually gotten her to feel aggravated on a personal level. Though, instead of responding, she simply took a deep breath and calmed herself. After all, she was aiming to be a Cadet, and a Cadet who lost her temper so easily was no good.

//"Mm. Can't say I'm completely sure about worshiping our Queen but... I suppose she did save us and all. I'd really like to see her in person one day, though, and know what the person who build this city is like. Sore wa migi, tanoshii subekidesu ka? It could be really fun."// Somehow, talking about this brought a smile back onto Shiina's face as she chuckled to herself in a strange curious wonder. For a few seconds, she pondered the possibility, then ultimately shook her head. The man's words, while ultimately true, still didn't sit well with the Tsurinai. Instead, she simply waved a hand back and forth in front of her face, a little custom in Japan that indicated she didn't really know anything else on this subject. Normally, she'd be slightly offended, but in this case, Shiina simply flashed the brightest smile she could.

Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] JLQikjP

//"Maybe you're right in that the first event was caused by a human, but who can say about any potential others? People don't learn from their mistakes so easily."//

The Tsurinai intentionally spoke in her most natural voice, a voice that conveyed kindness and understanding, a voice that seemed so natural to her it was odd how she could have such an outlook on life.

//"Of course, I'm kidding. You did say to take this less seriously, right? I come to this district every day to sing, dance and have fun, so getting into talks like this isn't what I should be doing, right?"// Her expression didn't break here, and she simply kept her smile up, instead just resuming her task of going around, picking up bottles and dumping them into the cart that lacked a door. She hummed a little tune, one she knew by heart at this point but no-one had yet listened to aside from a select few.

Maria flashed a smile at Shiina as she understood where the Tsurinai was coming from. Worshiping someone wasn't for everyone, that much the nun-in-training can understand. Meeting Isla would be a nice thing really. This was a woman who saved the city and to some extent helped her get a new life... and a new chance.

"I... see. Poor him," Maria slowly agreed upon laying her eyes on the cart's true owner. She finally put her hands upon the cart's handle after Shiina put the last of the bottles inside, "Excuse me, then. I'll be back."

She steered the cart away from the ongoing conversation between the Tsurinai and the black-headed man. Maria was glad she was able to escape, if only momentarily. This Jack seemed to be a weird guy, not really a bad one. It was hard to tell. She had to admit he slightly reminded her of her youngest brother who was always a fan of something out of the ordinary. As the two talked behind her, Maria would push the cart back towards its rightful owner while the coffin continued to hang on her shoulders. Already she was preparing herself for the cart owner to look at her weirdly.

What a life.

PostSubject: Re: Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?]   Lucky Day! [Shiina - Maria?] EmptySun May 15, 2016 2:50 pm

Shiina shrugged softly as she caught Maria's smile. Truly, there wasn't much for her to say in response to that. While she could see worshiping the Queen as the logical step for many people... well, idolizing a person to such a degree wasn't her style. Respecting her as the ruler? Sure. Treating her as a divine entity? No thank you.

//"An idol, hrm. No, not quite. Perhaps it'd be more accurate to call me an idol in training. I'm not exactly famous enough to be called something like that."// The Tsurinai's expression turned a little bit grimmer at the mention of this Cela person. While she definitely knew about him, Shiina wasn't really... keen on acknowledging him. Sure, she understood he had talent, and she definitely saw where the praise was coming from, but as an aspiring musician herself, and an independent one who wrote her own lyrics, the Tsurinai could only see the man as another rival... come to think of it, she remembered there was another up and coming idol, Faces. Perhaps it'd be simpler if she could partner up with him... that way, they could both make it to the top.

But, she shook such thoughts out of her head, both figuratively and literally, as she simply dismissed talking about Cela entirely with that gesture as well.

//"I don't even know if I still have my soul. Do you want to test it? We could summon a demon right here and now and see if they'd take my soul. If they did, I still have it, if they don't, I don't have it. Deal?"// She smirked and crossed her arms.
