Birth Name: Hatsuharu Yoshima
Aliases: Known by his stage name Faces, not even fans know his real name as he keeps his personal business separate from the stage life. His parents and his manager are the only three that call him by his short name Haru. There is one other name he goes by and that is The Phantom. This name is the name associated with his other job in the world.

Place of Residence: He lives in Vista Square in a luxury home with his parents who still refuse to let him go free. He can be found inside mainly in this area since too many know his face and he rather not be bothered by the all too nosy and chaotic fans. East Eden is his second home and the one he wishes he could stay in forever. He often stays at his manager's (Lisa) home that is located in East Eden when he needs an escape from the life he has.
Academy Semester: He has been home schooled since his parents found it "better" for him if they guided him down the "right" path for him.

Appearance:
Haru is about 5'8" in height and weighs about 160 lbs. His body is fit and lean thanks to constant training and exercise to make sure he looks the best for the crowds he has to please. His hair is long enough to fall over his ears as it curves to frame his face. It is a dark shade of blue that is often mistaken for black and it contains one white highlight in it. As far as jewelry goes he does wear one cuff earring in his right ear. The main attraction to this male beauty is his eyes. One is a dark shade of blue that mimics the night sky while the other is a lighter shade of blue that mimics the softness of a blue sky. These eyes hide many things behind them.
As far as clothing goes it varies depending on if he is performing or not. When performing, his outfits can range from simple to over the top depending on the show. When not performing, he is typically forced to wear formal clothing by his parents who are always concerned about images and reputation. However, the young man despises the outfits. In fact, if one really wanted to know his style, they'd have to meet him in East Eden where he wears casual and comfortable clothing. He even has a set of work clothes for when he works in his garden there.
While Haru is not a Psyche Terrorist within the other world, he can certainly be mistaken for one. Unlike other Cadets, he wears masks that keep his face hidden and shifts out his normal clothing for tailored all black clothing that carry his own brand of style to them. His foot wear is a comfortable pair of boots that is great for working in and his hands are covered in black gloves that gives him a good grip on surfaces, but also helps him leave no traces of himself behind if he were to touch something. His look serves two purposes one it adds mystery to the Phantom and hides who is from the prying eye, but it is also acts as another way that Haru keeps his business life and real life separated.
Personality:
To the world, he is known as Faces – a performer that can fall into any role ranging from male roles to female roles, singer to mute. You name the role and the guy can perform it without much trouble. The world sees him as this mysterious, yet confident guy full of charm. Girls drool over him and some guys want to be him. The public is always ooing and awing over the young man that seems to handle the spot light well.
However, this persona that he shows the world is a huge front to how he really is. Yes, he is confident and some might call him charming, but underneath that rests a rather humble, gentle, yet serious young man that would take a quiet life over the spot life any day. He doesn’t hate his position in life, but he doesn’t love it either. He sees the job as a performer as simply that: a job that brings in money that his parents are all too happy spend on over the top events and gathering to gain publicity and reputation. While they spend, Haru saves his portion preferring to use the money for other things such as helping others or saving for a future if he were to ever have kids or retire.
His life with his parents is a rocky one. While he tolerates them and bows to most of their whims like a good child would, their over bearing nature at times drives him into foul moods and when it gets too bad, he simply walks away before they can drive him mad. While his parents typically go crazy when he is gone, they take some comfort in the fact that he at least takes his manager Lisa with him during these outings, so they don’t pry too much on what he does in those absences. Something he much appreciates.
His manager, Lisa, is the only person that actually knows the young man for who he is and in turn is the only one that treats him as person rather than an object to please the public. As a result, the young man puts a lot of trust in his manager and sees her as true family vs. his own real parents that he wonders even notices him when he steps down from the stage. As a result of this trust, she is the one he keeps the closest to him.
Outside of Lisa, he doesn’t have many friends since he was home school and had parents that wouldn’t let him out their sight. Now that he is older he almost always busy with something pertaining to his job and when not he tries his best not to deal with people. As a result of this, he is a bit shy and soft spoken when face to face with someone, a complete 180 from the way he typically acts when on the stage. Despite this, he can still hold conversations and loves any company that is not from the media or some drooling fan. As far as romance goes, he’d like to settle with someone; however, he’s not interested in anyone that is after him for his money or his fame. He honestly just wants someone who can accept the real him and not care about the publicity or money. Gender honestly doesn’t matter, though people assume he goes for females.
In a nutshell, he seems like your average star; however, it would be a lie to say that this is all to him. For you see, there is a lesser known piece of his personality under the pop idol view. One that only himself, Lisa, and the Queen know about. This lesser known personality is the one that is loyal to the Queen and her alone.
By serving the Queen he is still in chains, but chains he embraces fully as they gives him a different sort of freedom than regular life could give him. It actually allows him to play a game, he has had a passion simply known as cat and mouse. While before the game was focused on small things, when he submitted to the Queen he got to play the game on a larger scale and with people instead of mundane things. He likes the challenge the game gives and the reward it gives when he does succeed in capturing his prey while not getting caught or defeated himself. When encountering this mysterious personality known simply as The Phantom, people find it hard to believe that the twisted game master is the same as the pop idol everyone loves so. His motives are hard to pinpoint and he appears and vanishes like a ghost (thus the name: The Phantom) making some wonder if he is real or not; however, the evidence left behind makes it certain he is indeed a thing and that whatever he may be doing, he always gears his jobs towards aiding the Queen.
The only person that actually knows about this side of him is Lisa and the Queen. After all it was Lisa, who re-introduced him the game in the first place.

—Description: Being a performer that has been placed in various roles including female roles due to how easy it is to doll him up, Haru is very good at covering up who he really is under many masks. His acting skills only add to this ability. This skill makes it easy for him to hide in plain sight allowing him to keep up his Phantom Identity without people knowing that he and the Phantom are one in the same. Note: Outside of the Queen and Lisa, no one else should know The Phantom’s true name or who he is outside of the job without investigating it, catching him, or the Queen herself giving out the information. Note: Expression starts at Rank 2.

—Description: A skill he learned from his life on the stage. The various roles he can play demands both mental and physical strength to perform. As a result, he is more acrobatic than most his age and has high stamina.
—Strength Name: Control/Discipline
—Description: To master something one has to demonstrate control and dedication that thing. As a result of this form of thinking, Haru has a great amount of control over what he does and what he doesn’t do. He prioritizes well and is able to block out distractions to his work if need be. This discipline extends into his staff fighting which he likes to practice when he gets a breather in life.
—Strength Name: The Human Body
—Description: Haru is not necessarily a killer, but if he needs to be one he can perform the job without any qualms. To get the job done in an efficient manner, Haru does study the human body and psychology allowing him to know where to strike to deal the most damage with either physical or mental blows. His tactics adapt to the situation. Note: This is not an auto-feature. He takes time to study his targets to figure out exactly what should be done in the situation before acting.

—Description: While he is by no means a hero, he is not afraid to take a stand and fight for something. Whether it is through a performance or actually participating in something, Haru does what he believes is right and will not falter. As a result of strong resolve, he cannot be swayed from Queen’s side and refuses to betray her in any fashion.

—Description: Haru is good about hiding who he is making the world believe he is an innocent pop idol, when in reality he is far darker than that. As a result of this, Haru never really exposes his true self to the world and when he does be himself it is always hidden behind a mask when he is on the job as The Phantom. As a result of this bonding with Haru is very difficult, especially if one finds out the truth under the lie.
—Weakness Name: Pressure
—Description: Living under a spotlight carries heavy consequences. Consequences that are amplified by his parents over bearing nature. He often runs away from home to a safe spot he has created within East Eden to get away from it all lest he goes mad. As a result he doesn’t take well to people who are overbearing or try to force their way into his life.
—Weakness Name: Intimidating
—Description: No matter how he tries, he cannot hide his face from the world. As a result of being so popular peers his age are usually to nervous or giddy to approach him. Top that with his mature attitude and not just anyone can easily approach him. It makes social life an awkward affair and only adds to the difficulty of bonding with him.
—Weakness Name: Eliminate
—Description: If Haru finds someone is getting in his way too much or becoming a threat to Queen, he has no issue becoming the predator that seeks out to destroy the problem. Typically, he tries to cripple people to give them a chance to reconsider what they are doing; however, push too far and he will change his tactics to make them deadly. His ability to kill without remorse makes him appear heartless or merciless. While he typically does not do this unless corner outside of a job, there is an air about him that make NPCs uncomfortable around him and thus make it a bit harder for him to actually social link with them until they feel they can trust him.
—Weakness Name: Business is business....until we're truly friends....
—Description: While Haru can easily compartmentalize things, keeping the faces in his life separate from one another, people who are not loyal to the Queen or have a more bleeding heart personality may find him cold in some situations. Much like killing if necessary, he has no issue turning on supposed friends or turning a gun on allies that are trying to betray the Queen. To him business is business and if you can’t accept that…That is really too bad. On the flip side, if one has a maxed out social link with this guy, Haru can still play the game; however, his more softer side shows causing him to hesitate or even turn a blind eye to the workings of the person if they are on the opposite side. This is not say, he'll always let them slip by, but he does have a harder time with his job when he actually has made a serious bond with them. It shows that underneath his cold exterior....he still cares. Note: Haru has to go through Understanding Rank 1 twice before reaching the next rank.

Weapon Description: A long sword like pole made of crimson and aquamarine colored material. The pole arm is 7 feet from tip to handle. It seems like a harmless weapon due to the smoothness and roundness of its edges; however, the blade is deceiving and is extraordinary sharp making it tricky to wield, but with practice with similar items. Haru has become quite skilled with the weapon.

The Background
|
History:
Haru life has always been one of a prisoner. Since he was born, his parents have had this dream of becoming rich and famous. You know living in the lime light with all the rich folk and having parties? That sort of life. Since both were failed attempts at actor and songstress, when they had Haru, they planned to correct their error with the child.
As part of this plan, they pretty much imprisoned the child. He wasn’t allowed out of their sight when he was younger and if he did go outside he couldn’t leave the front yard without his mother calling him back. He would see other children playing, but his parents always said they were too common for him to play with and so sought to keep him entertained with toys or other means to keep him away others. They home schooled him and when he was not studying, his parents would give him tests to see what he was good at. At first, he showed no promise of becoming a star; however, as luck would have had it, he was listening to some music one day and began singing out loud and dancing thinking no one was around; however, when he turned around and found his mother had been watching, he knew he was doomed from the insane smile she had on her face. He was 10 when he was caught and was at once put to work.
He was placed under training and contests where he was expected to do his absolute best and when he failed, he was punished for it. Perhaps out of fear or the desire to make his parents happy, the boy worked his hardest to make his parents’ dream come true. At first success was small, but the more his face was put out there, the more people began to look and once he began getting picked up by a small music companies and theater groups, his life was turned upside down. By the age of 15 he was already a fan amongst the teens and as he grew and was placed further and further out into the spot light, the more that popularity grew until it was almost unbearable. While his parents did indeed get their wish and continued to use Haru to keep their over the top life style, the young man always felt hollow and alone even if he was always surrounded by people.
By the age of 18 he was good at playing puppet and had settled with the fact that he would only be a face people loved for looks or sound, so when his new manager Lisa came along, the boy was already shutdown internally. Seeing her at first as just another tool that his parents had hired, he was at first quite cold towards the woman; however, about six months into her job, Haru had a break down from all the pressure placed upon him. His parents ordered, the Lisa to take him to the hospital and get the doctors to “fix” him. While the woman did obey in the fact that she technically took him away to be fixed, she did not take him to the doctor. Instead, she took him out to East Eden where she owned a small house out in the country.
Shocked and a little suspicious she was going to kill him, Haru at first was unresponsive to this change of scenery. It took 3 hours of being left to do what he pleased for him to finally realize that Lisa was actually trying to help him in her own way. Instead of forcing him through doctor visits that never really worked, she helped him come out of his low spirits by doing the one thing no one else ever did for him: she let him be free.
During his time spent in the countryside he was able to clear out his head and simply breathe. Lisa was able to help him through his darker moments when he fell, so when they did return to his parents two weeks later, Haru was able to handle the world once more. From that point on Lisa became a friend. A friend that only grew closer to him the longer she stayed. She proved that while she was a business person, she actually cared about him as a person rather than as a star. As a result of this, Lisa was the first he let into his heart and the one that pretty much keeps him going when things get rough. She is the only one to understand that he needs a break and so has no issue taking him back out to the country side when he needs a breather.
Lisa was the one to help Haru discover his love for playing the game of cat and mouse. In the county side, she took note of how Haru seemed to enjoy hunting for the animals that they would kill for dinner. Intrigued to see how far this love went, she began to play a game with him simply known as cat and mouse – a game where the objective was to get as close as possible to the prey without being caught before killing it. It took a few practice runs, but the boy quickly adjusted his ways to better hide himself from what he sought and in the end, he would catch his prey. She took note of how pleased the boy seemed to be with catching the prey and so sought to push the limits further. Keeping her reasoning a secret, she would one day challenge Haru to a game of cat and mouse where instead of an animal being the target, she would be the target.
A bit perplexed at first as to why the woman wanted to be the target, Haru did indeed question her; however, Lisa told him that he would only get the answer if he could incatch her. Up for a challenge, he took on the request. It would take him three tries to finally catch Lisa. When he did catch her, Lisa asked him three questions: 1) Did he enjoy hunting her? 2) If an opportunity came up would he be willing to expand the game into an actual job? 3) What would he do if she told him she was a spy for the government? While he did admit that he enjoyed the hunt and would love to do it again, at first he was leery about the job portion not sure if he actually wanted to expand a game into a job. To be quite frank he was unsure if such a position really existed. As far as Lisa being a spy went, he said he didn’t care as long as it didn’t change the relationship between them.
Pleased with the answer, Lisa would backed off of the job portion of the questions for one year to give him time to think on it and also to test him to see if he really didn’t care that she was a spy. Intentionally, she would do minor work in front of him and then observe what he would do with his knowledge. Surprisingly, the boy kept his mouth shut about what he saw and when asked to play cat and mouse with the targets being small fries here and there that were causing trouble in the city, the boy agreed easily enough saying he liked the challenge that was brought by being able to hunt a human target. It was during this time he built the personality known as The Phantom. By the end of the year, Haru would ask Lisa about the job question that was mentioned long ago. He said that he would not mind playing cat and mouse with people as job and if such a position was real, he’d take it.
Playing it cool Lisa said she could arrange setting up an appointment with the employer that needed the such a space filled and within three days said employer called upon them. She took the boy to the location for the meeting and what happened next changed Haru’s life forever. While Haru had indeed accepted that Lisa was not all she seemed, he did not expect that she had been sent out to scout for candidates that would best serve the Queen.
He was placed through a series of questions and tests – that made sure that he was truly okay with the job being offered and obeying the Queen absolutely. While the tests were hard, he past each one of them and when questioned about certain things, he showed no lies or signs he was planning to betray the Queen any time soon. When the examination process was done and the people conducting the tests felt he was worthy enough to go through to the final stage, Haru was brought before the Queen, where he was given the chance to claim a power, he never dreamed of having.
By agreeing to work for the Queen and help Lisa with work, Haru was introduced to an intoxicating power that only grew stronger the more he took on missions for the woman. The game of cat and mouse was expanded to newer and more challenging targets and the name The Phantom became a whispered thing on the streets.
Despite what happened, Haru and Lisa has kept this aspect of his life a secret since the day he submitted to the Queen when he was 19 and became a Cadet. Haru maintains the front of an ordinary pop star leaving his true passion hidden behind the various masks of The Phantom that operates under the cover of night. Despite having playing the game for a while now, he has yet to push himself to his true limits; however, with the unknown future before him this may soon enough change.

| Just curious. Throughout the entire app, you only refer to East Eden, but you wrote down his residence as East Eden/Vista Square. So, which one does he actually live in? Since you said nothing about the latter one after that. Does he have some home at both? | |

As a result of this, he does have concealed handgun license allowing him to carry a gun that is named Mimic. It looks exactly like Quick Silver...the only thing different is this gun is quite real and thus does real world damage.

—Description: Haru does carry a real gun with him and while he prefers not to kill, if he finds someone is getting in his way too much or becoming a threat to Queen, he has no issue becoming the predator that seeks out to destroy the problem. Absolutely no real guns no matter the circumstance, also this hardly feels like a weakness. It's not really debilitating in the least. How does this act negatively on him? Atleast make it give him a bad reputation with people that will affect his interactions with NPCs and the like. Other than that, everything else looks fine. | |

His hair is long enough to fall over his ears as it curves to frame his face. It is a dark shade of blue that is often mistaken for black and it contains one white highlight in it. As far as jewelry goes he does wear one cuff earring in his right ear. The main attraction to this male beauty is his eyes. One is a dark shade of blue that mimics the night sky while the other is a lighter shade of blue that mimics the softness of a blue sky. These eyes hide many things behind them.
As far as clothing goes it varies depending on if he is performing or not. When performing, his outfits can range from simple to over the top depending on the show. When not performing, he is typically forced to wear formal clothing by his parents who are always concerned about images and reputation. However, the young man despises the outfits. In fact, if one really wanted to know his style, they'd have to meet him in East Eden where he wears casual and comfortable clothing. He even has a set of work clothes for when he works in his garden there.
While Haru is not a Psyche Terrorist within the other world, he can certainly be mistaken for one. Unlike other Cadets, he wears masks that keep his face hidden and shifts out his normal clothing for tailored all black clothing that carry his own brand of style to them. His foot wear is a comfortable pair of boots that is great for working in and his hands are covered in black gloves that gives him a good grip on surfaces, but also helps him leave no traces of himself behind if he were to touch something. His look serves two purposes one it adds mystery to the Phantom and hides who is from the prying eye, but it is also acts as another way that Haru keeps his business life and real life separated.
Personality:
To the world, he is known as Faces – a performer that can fall into any role ranging from male roles to female roles, singer to mute. You name the role and the guy can perform it without much trouble. The world sees him as this mysterious, yet confident guy full of charm. Girls drool over him and some guys want to be him. The public is always ooing and awing over the young man that seems to handle the spot light well.
However, this persona that he shows the world is a huge front to how he really is. Yes, he is confident and some might call him charming, but underneath that rests a rather humble, gentle, yet serious young man that would take a quiet life over the spot life any day. He doesn’t hate his position in life, but he doesn’t love it either. He sees the job as a performer as simply that: a job that brings in money that his parents are all too happy spend on over the top events and gathering to gain publicity and reputation. While they spend, Haru saves his portion preferring to use the money for other things such as helping others or saving for a future if he were to ever have kids or retire.
His life with his parents is a rocky one. While he tolerates them and bows to most of their whims like a good child would, their over bearing nature at times drives him into foul moods and when it gets too bad, he simply walks away before they can drive him mad. While his parents typically go crazy when he is gone, they take some comfort in the fact that he at least takes his manager Lisa with him during these outings, so they don’t pry too much on what he does in those absences. Something he much appreciates.
His manager, Lisa, is the only person that actually knows the young man for who he is and in turn is the only one that treats him as person rather than an object to please the public. As a result, the young man puts a lot of trust in his manager and sees her as true family vs. his own real parents that he wonders even notices him when he steps down from the stage. As a result of this trust, she is the one he keeps the closest to him.
Outside of Lisa, he doesn’t have many friends since he was home school and had parents that wouldn’t let him out their sight. Now that he is older he almost always busy with something pertaining to his job and when not he tries his best not to deal with people. As a result of this, he is a bit shy and soft spoken when face to face with someone, a complete 180 from the way he typically acts when on the stage. Despite this, he can still hold conversations and loves any company that is not from the media or some drooling fan. As far as romance goes, he’d like to settle with someone; however, he’s not interested in anyone that is after him for his money or his fame. He honestly just wants someone who can accept the real him and not care about the publicity or money. Gender honestly doesn’t matter, though people assume he goes for females.
In a nutshell, he seems like your average star; however, it would be a lie to say that this is all to him. For you see, there is a lesser known piece of his personality under the pop idol view. One that only himself, Lisa, and the Queen know about. This lesser known personality is the one that is loyal to the Queen and her alone.
By serving the Queen he is still in chains, but chains he embraces fully as they gives him a different sort of freedom than regular life could give him. It actually allows him to play a game, he has had a passion simply known as cat and mouse. While before the game was focused on small things, when he submitted to the Queen he got to play the game on a larger scale and with people instead of mundane things. He likes the challenge the game gives and the reward it gives when he does succeed in capturing his prey while not getting caught or defeated himself. When encountering this mysterious personality known simply as The Phantom, people find it hard to believe that the twisted game master is the same as the pop idol everyone loves so. His motives are hard to pinpoint and he appears and vanishes like a ghost (thus the name: The Phantom) making some wonder if he is real or not; however, the evidence left behind makes it certain he is indeed a thing and that whatever he may be doing, he always gears his jobs towards aiding the Queen.
The only person that actually knows about this side of him is Lisa and the Queen. After all it was Lisa, who re-introduced him the game in the first place.

—Description: Being a performer that has been placed in various roles including female roles due to how easy it is to doll him up, Haru is very good at covering up who he really is under many masks. His acting skills only add to this ability. This skill makes it easy for him to hide in plain sight allowing him to keep up his Phantom Identity without people knowing that he and the Phantom are one in the same. Note: Outside of the Queen and Lisa, no one else should know The Phantom’s true name or who he is outside of the job without investigating it, catching him, or the Queen herself giving out the information.

—Description: A skill he learned from his life on the stage. The various roles he can play demands both mental and physical strength to perform. As a result, he is more acrobatic than most his age and has high stamina.

—Description: To master something one has to demonstrate control and dedication that thing. As a result of this form of thinking, Haru has a great amount of control over what he does and what he doesn’t do. He prioritizes well and is able to block out distractions to his work if need be. This discipline extends into his staff fighting which he likes to practice when he gets a breather in life.
—Strength Name: The Human Body
—Description: Haru is not necessarily a killer, but if he needs to be one he can perform the job without any qualms. To get the job done in an efficient manner, Haru does study the human body and psychology allowing him to know where to strike to deal the most damage with either physical or mental blows. His tactics adapt to the situation. Note: This is not an auto-feature. He takes time to study his targets to figure out exactly what should be done in the situation before acting.

—Description: While he is by no means a hero, he is not afraid to take a stand and fight for something. Whether it is through a performance or actually participating in something, Haru does what he believes is right and will not falter. As a result of strong resolve, he cannot be swayed from Queen’s side and refuses to betray her in any fashion.

As a result of this, Haru never really exposes his true self to the world and when he does be himself it is always hidden behind a mask when he is on the job as The Phantom. As a result of this bonding with Haru is very difficult, especially if one finds out the truth under the lie.

—Description: Living under a spotlight carries heavy consequences. Consequences that are amplified by his parents over bearing nature. He often runs away from home to a safe spot he has created within East Eden to get away from it all lest he goes mad. As a result he doesn’t take well to people who are overbearing or try to force their way into his life.

—Description: No matter how he tries, he cannot hide his face from the world. As a result of being so popular peers his age are usually to nervous or giddy to approach him. Top that with his mature attitude and not just anyone can easily approach him. It makes social life an awkward affair and only adds to the difficulty of bonding with him.

—Description: If Haru finds someone is getting in his way too much or becoming a threat to Queen, he has no issue becoming the predator that seeks out to destroy the problem. Typically, he tries to cripple people to give them a chance to reconsider what they are doing; however, push too far and he will change his tactics to make them deadly. His ability to kill without remorse makes him appear heartless or merciless. While he typically does not do this unless corner outside of a job, there is an air about him that make NPCs uncomfortable around him and thus make it a bit harder for him to actually social link with them until they feel they can trust him.

—Description: While Haru can easily compartmentalize things, keeping the faces in his life separate from one another, people who are not loyal to the Queen or have a more bleeding heart personality may find him cold in some situations. Much like killing if necessary, he has no issue turning on supposed friends or turning a gun on allies that are trying to betray the Queen. To him business is business and if you can’t accept that…That is really too bad. On the flip side, if one has a maxed out social link with this guy, Haru can still play the game; however, his more softer side shows causing him to hesitate or even turn a blind eye to the workings of the person if they are on the opposite side. This is not say, he'll always let them slip by, but he does have a harder time with his job when he actually has made a serious bond with them. It shows that underneath his cold exterior....he still cares.

Haru has become quite skilled with the weapon.

The Background
|
History:
Haru life has always been one of a prisoner. Since he was born, his parents have had this dream of becoming rich and famous. You know living in the lime light with all the rich folk and having parties? That sort of life. Since both were failed attempts at actor and songstress, when they had Haru, they planned to correct their error with the child.
As part of this plan, they pretty much imprisoned the child. He wasn’t allowed out of their sight when he was younger and if he did go outside he couldn’t leave the front yard without his mother calling him back. He would see other children playing, but his parents always said they were too common for him to play with and so sought to keep him entertained with toys or other means to keep him away others. They home schooled him and when he was not studying, his parents would give him tests to see what he was good at. At first, he showed no promise of becoming a star; however, as luck would have had it, he was listening to some music one day and began singing out loud and dancing thinking no one was around; however, when he turned around and found his mother had been watching, he knew he was doomed from the insane smile she had on her face. He was 10 when he was caught and was at once put to work.
He was placed under training and contests where he was expected to do his absolute best and when he failed, he was punished for it. Perhaps out of fear or the desire to make his parents happy, the boy worked his hardest to make his parents’ dream come true. At first success was small, but the more his face was put out there, the more people began to look and once he began getting picked up by a small music companies and theater groups, his life was turned upside down. By the age of 15 he was already a fan amongst the teens and as he grew and was placed further and further out into the spot light, the more that popularity grew until it was almost unbearable. While his parents did indeed get their wish and continued to use Haru to keep their over the top life style, the young man always felt hollow and alone even if he was always surrounded by people.
By the age of 18 he was good at playing puppet and had settled with the fact that he would only be a face people loved for looks or sound, so when his new manager Lisa came along, the boy was already shutdown internally. Seeing her at first as just another tool that his parents had hired, he was at first quite cold towards the woman; however, about six months into her job, Haru had a break down from all the pressure placed upon him. His parents ordered, the Lisa to take him to the hospital and get the doctors to “fix” him. While the woman did obey in the fact that she technically took him away to be fixed, she did not take him to the doctor. Instead, she took him out to East Eden where she owned a small house out in the country.
Shocked and a little suspicious she was going to kill him, Haru at first was unresponsive to this change of scenery. It took 3 hours of being left to do what he pleased for him to finally realize that Lisa was actually trying to help him in her own way. Instead of forcing him through doctor visits that never really worked, she helped him come out of his low spirits by doing the one thing no one else ever did for him: she let him be free.
During his time spent in the countryside he was able to clear out his head and simply breathe. Lisa was able to help him through his darker moments when he fell, so when they did return to his parents two weeks later, Haru was able to handle the world once more. From that point on Lisa became a friend. A friend that only grew closer to him the longer she stayed. She proved that while she was a business person, she actually cared about him as a person rather than as a star. As a result of this, Lisa was the first he let into his heart and the one that pretty much keeps him going when things get rough. She is the only one to understand that he needs a break and so has no issue taking him back out to the country side when he needs a breather.
Lisa was the one to help Haru discover his love for playing the game of cat and mouse. In the county side, she took note of how Haru seemed to enjoy hunting for the animals that they would kill for dinner. Intrigued to see how far this love went, she began to play a game with him simply known as cat and mouse – a game where the objective was to get as close as possible to the prey without being caught before killing it. It took a few practice runs, but the boy quickly adjusted his ways to better hide himself from what he sought and in the end, he would catch his prey. She took note of how pleased the boy seemed to be with catching the prey and so sought to push the limits further. Keeping her reasoning a secret, she would one day challenge Haru to a game of cat and mouse where instead of an animal being the target, she would be the target.
A bit perplexed at first as to why the woman wanted to be the target, Haru did indeed question her; however, Lisa told him that he would only get the answer if he could incatch her. Up for a challenge, he took on the request. It would take him three tries to finally catch Lisa. When he did catch her, Lisa asked him three questions: 1) Did he enjoy hunting her? 2) If an opportunity came up would he be willing to expand the game into an actual job? 3) What would he do if she told him she was a spy for the government? While he did admit that he enjoyed the hunt and would love to do it again, at first he was leery about the job portion not sure if he actually wanted to expand a game into a job. To be quite frank he was unsure if such a position really existed. As far as Lisa being a spy went, he said he didn’t care as long as it didn’t change the relationship between them.
Pleased with the answer, Lisa would backed off of the job portion of the questions for one year to give him time to think on it and also to test him to see if he really didn’t care that she was a spy. Intentionally, she would do minor work in front of him and then observe what he would do with his knowledge. Surprisingly, the boy kept his mouth shut about what he saw and when asked to play cat and mouse with the targets being small fries here and there that were causing trouble in the city, the boy agreed easily enough saying he liked the challenge that was brought by being able to hunt a human target. It was during this time he built the personality known as The Phantom. By the end of the year, Haru would ask Lisa about the job question that was mentioned long ago. He said that he would not mind playing cat and mouse with people as job and if such a position was real, he’d take it.
Playing it cool Lisa said she could arrange setting up an appointment with the employer that needed the such a space filled and within three days said employer called upon them. She took the boy to the location for the meeting and what happened next changed Haru’s life forever. While Haru had indeed accepted that Lisa was not all she seemed, he did not expect that she had been sent out to scout for candidates that would best serve the Queen.
He was placed through a series of questions and tests – that made sure that he was truly okay with the job being offered and obeying the Queen absolutely. While the tests were hard, he past each one of them and when questioned about certain things, he showed no lies or signs he was planning to betray the Queen any time soon. When the examination process was done and the people conducting the tests felt he was worthy enough to go through to the final stage, Haru was brought before the Queen, where he was given the chance to claim a power, he never dreamed of having.
By agreeing to work for the Queen and help Lisa with work, Haru was introduced to an intoxicating power that only grew stronger the more he took on missions for the woman. The game of cat and mouse was expanded to newer and more challenging targets and the name The Phantom became a whispered thing on the streets.
Despite what happened, Haru and Lisa has kept this aspect of his life a secret since the day he submitted to the Queen when he was 19 and became a Cadet. Haru maintains the front of an ordinary pop star leaving his true passion hidden behind the various masks of The Phantom that operates under the cover of night. Despite having playing the game for a while now, he has yet to push himself to his true limits; however, with the unknown future before him this may soon enough change.
