**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

PostSubject: First Day Transfer Student (First Years of Class 1-A Please)   First Day Transfer Student (First Years of Class 1-A Please) EmptySat Aug 10, 2013 10:00 pm

A cold chill went down the violet haired female's spine as she arrived at the front gates of Kizuna Academy. Holding a crisp white paper in her hand, and a bag over her shoulder, she analysed the contents on the said paper repeatedly. This was certainly the place. Her destination, one could also say. Various students walked past her, socializing and heading into the advanced looking building. Vera could not remember what her old school looked like, thanks to a certain condition she had, but she had a feeling it wasn't this large. Telling by how people dressed and spoke, this school was probably very popular and prestigious. Wasn't this lovely, this meant it had plenty of valuable things that could possibly go missing in the future. Though knowing how fickle she was, Vera didn't count on anything really being worth taking. And anyway, taking something on her first day of being a transfer student really wouldn't be that much of a great start would it? Though, she was sure she wouldn't get caught, it was the principle of the matter. Lowering her head, she'd walk onto school grounds and head straight for the faculty office once entering the building.

Vera was very surprised to see how well kept the school actually appeared. It was almost as if a cleaning staff worked constantly around the clock to keep things looking shiny and new. Whoever put money and time into building the school had outdone themselves, and she could respect that. Though she lacked the ability to see the artistic value in anything; she knew of materialistic work from a blink of the eye. Whoever designed this place did not create it to be praised as an artistic beauty, but instead made it for more practical reasons. That was a no brainer here. Though she could not go further into detail about this, as she had finally reached the faculty office where she would receive her home room. Knocking twice on the door before entering, Vera would stand infront of the doorway with a stoic look plastered upon her face. There seemed to be very little teachers currently in the office, which meant the majority of them were most likely teaching class at the moment. Walking up to the nearest teacher, the transfer student would hand them the crisp white paper from their hand and give them a blank stare.

The teacher looked towards the paper before looking back up towards the young lady with a smile. "Welcome to Kizuna Academy, Ms. Vera Valentina. Such an exotic name, are you from over seas?" Vera responded with a silent nod as she stepped aside and watched the older male teacher stand from his seat. "I'm sure you'll fit in quite nicely. Please follow me to your home room. Your teacher will be Ms. Nola Shepard. She's a nice woman, but try to be on your best behaviour for her." The man gave a chuckle as he lead the silent girl through the hallways and to her home room class. Once reaching the class, he'd open the door for her to enter and would notify Nola that she was a new student transferring into her class. Walking into the rather large class room, Vera would stand at attention while looking towards the class from the front of the room. Nola would stand and place a hand on the young girl's shoulder. "Well don't be shy. Introduce yourself to your classmates, Vera." The woman spoke in a soothing tone that was almost motherly and made her feel much calmer.

Staring out with violet eyes, Vera would finally break her unofficial vow of silence and speak. "My name is Vera Valentina." With that said, the teacher would give a smile and look at the class roster. "Okay Vera, we're going to need a seat for you. There is one on the far left in the front row next to the window, and one in the center towards the back." The woman gave her a choice here, but Vera did not waste time to head towards the seat in the front and place her things on the desktop. Sitting down in the chair, she'd cross one leg over the other while staring towards the front of the class, awaiting the lecture. It was almost as if she weren't even there by how quiet and reserved she was.

Gabby watched the new girl as she introduced herself to the class and immediately took her seat right in the front. At least the Vera had the good sense to not call too much attention to herself. She felt bad for her though. Gabby didn’t have to do the stand-of-shame, but poor Vera did. It was enough to make her laugh at the uncomfortable situation. At least she had learned something about the girl. Namely, that she wasn’t from Japan. It was a small world after all, even smaller if she was from Fiji. She doubted that possibility however, since she was missing the distinctive tan that being in the sun all day gave you. In fact, she was pretty pale. She probably didn’t get a lot of sun in extended amounts of time. Gabby always chose to sit in the back row’s corner, so her view of the new girl was not perfect, but she still gave her a once over. Her crossed legs meant that she was at least a little confident, and sitting in the front row meant she was either a bookworm or shy. As for her look, you could find her a mile away, but her attitude screamed that she didn’t want to be seen. Then there were the lines on her face. She either didn’t have an entirely good outlook on life, or she was a complete pessimist. She couldn’t pick one. That was what Gabby could see on the outside, however. Anything else about this girl was not as easily deduced. If she wanted to know more, she would have to talk to Vera. Maybe after class. Maybe.

Vera sat silently while the class lesson continued on. Japanese was not her first language, and as such she had some trouble following along with the more complex phrases. Japanese was a strange language, as phrasing and tones were very important in conveying what one meant correctly. Maybe moving to Ueitawa wasn't the best idea until she had learned the language, but with a private tutor there was a chance she could atleast learn alittle more than what she currently knew. Who was she kidding? There was a chance she would never learn the Japanese language, and knowing how fickle she was there was a strong chance she wouldn't dedicate herself to the studies either. Was she proud of this fact? Of course she wasn't, but she accepted it. Changing the way you were was a difficult task, and thanks to her pessimistic tendencies she believed it was impossible to begin with.

Reaching over to her bag, the violet haired young girl would remove a journal. Placing it upon her desk, she'd take a pen and begin to jot down various notes. To those who may have been watching it would appear she were jotting down notes. In reality she was just recording her day so she could remember at a later date. Thanks to her mental condition, if she didn't record this day she would never remember it again. She had already made a mistake not to record the past few years of her life. It'd be unscrupulous of her to ignore her needs of documentation. She'd continue to take her "notes" in complete silence while the lesson continued.

When the bell to the first period finally rang out to signify a short break, Vera's violet spheres would look towards the teacher and then towards her new classmates. They all seemed rather relieved for this break period, and they immediately began to socialize. Vera only watched for a few seconds before turning back to her journal and scratching down more notes. It may have seen as though Vera was quite anti-social, but in reality she was just too fickle to interject herself into their lives. Vera was always the type to stand in the background and listen before speaking. She only spoke when she was addressed directly. It could be mistaken as shyness, and that was understandable. A new student in a big new school? It was like the beginning of a typical "ordinary high school life" manga you'd find at your local convenience store. Taking her journal in hand, she'd close the pages and place it back within her bag. Now that she was down documenting her day, she was stuck sitting there staring out the window without ushering a single word.

She waited for the teacher’s lecture to finish, so the break would start. Of course it meant people would get loud and start talking, but it was the first opportunity she would get to talk to the new girl. Gabby was not the most social person in the world, however, but for someone as new to Kizuna Academy as she was, she could learn to make an exception. Exceptions didn’t come easy though. Gabby wasn’t much of a talker, and from what she’d seen so far, neither was Vera. The best she could hope for at this rate was to subtly approach Vera and hope one of them became uncomfortable enough to say something to the other. With her cause of action decided, Gabby slowly approached the front of the room and made her way to Vera’s desk. The front of the room was something awful. Everybody could see you if they wanted and you were the first thing the teacher ever saw. How could anyone ever stand it up here? She’d take her back corner any day. It may have been in a spot for less that optimal learning conditions, but it was at least better than being the very center of everyone’s sights. Her pity for Vera’s situation only grew worse. Then, she retracted the thought. For all she knew, Vera could like that sort of situation. But, judging by her decision to sit at her desk and write instead of meet her new classmates, it was doubtful.

In her thoughts, she hadn’t realized she had already reached Vera’s desk. How would she pull off the look of ‘so uncomfortable, you have to talk’? Looking around, she found the closet loose and unoccupied chair she could. With a single motion, she grabbed the chair, slid it to the front of Vera’s desk, sat down, and began staring at her. At least, it looked like she was staring at her. In reality, she was looking just past Vera at the back wall. Eye to eye contact with strangers, even if they were classmates, was still a bit too much. How did people handle it all day? Even worse, she was sure somebody was now looking in their direction because of her little stunt. Today was not a good day to just blend into the crowd. For all the embarrassment she could feel building up, she hoped one of them broke soon. Or maybe they would just have a very long staring contest. One could never tell when two people who didn’t talk were going to say something, if ever.

Vera was much more than surprised when she hard the sudden screech from a chair near her. Leaving the company of the window, the new student would look ahead to see someone sitting across from them. They were very androgynous and she was not sure if it were a boy or girl sitting across from her. Also she couldn't help but wonder why they suddenly sought refuge in a chair she placed across the desk. The whole class fell silent from the sudden bold act, and Vera could feel their eyes watching both of them. For someone who had purposely taken the role of a background character, this attention did cause her to become quite flustered. The "boy" who sat across from her had a very pretty face, but something felt off. It was almost as if some sort of vibes were rubbing off onto Vera. She had seen alot of things in her life, and had worn alot of disguises that made her look the part of both genders. Could this person be a kindred spirit that did the same? The thought made her raise two fingers to her lips on instinct, as she stared towards the stranger with large round eyes. It was impossible. As a philistine Vera knew completely that there was no such meaning in spiritual connections like kindred spirits. It would be just a coincidence, if anything.

You see Vera wished to say something, but she remained quiet. Not out of respect, fear, or some kind of misplaced admiration, but because she did not understand how to start a conversation that well. Atleast, not with this fickle personality of hers that couldn't make up its mind. Though it appeared this mysterious student was staring, Vera had the weird sense that they were looking right through her. Their eyes were not meeting, which saved a very awkward situation from occurring. Well, not to say this was not awkward. Vera found herself taking a strand of her own hair in hand, and began to kneed the strands between her fingers as she nervously looked off to the side. There was slight color coming to her face. What could be the reason for this sudden interruption of her daily life? What did this boy want from her? She couldn't help but think negative thoughts on the situation. It was possible he was there to pick on her, and maybe call her names. Looking back at the "boy's" eyes, Vera began to suspect something. Maybe this was not a male that she rudely assumed. Those eyes said alot...

Vera wanted to remember this person, so suddenly she'd reach into her bag and remove a cellphone. Opening the lid, she'd raise it up between them and snap a picture of the student that sat across from her. It was a random action, but once done she would lower her phone to her desk and give a downcast gaze towards her desktop. Still, she didn't say a word, and the awkwardness of the situation was beginning to become palpable. Especially since the students around them began to make murmurs while eavesdropping on their situation. This was embarrassing.

PostSubject: Re: First Day Transfer Student (First Years of Class 1-A Please)   First Day Transfer Student (First Years of Class 1-A Please) EmptySun Aug 11, 2013 7:27 pm

Gabby was regretting her decision to do this already. Calling attention to her and the new girl was the worst mistake she had made in a while. She must have been insane to think calling attention, in any form, to the two of them could just be shaken off. Still, neither of them was speaking up. Vera was moving her fingers, kneading her own hair, which surprised her. She had never had long hair, so playing with it was more work than it was worth. It was supposed to be a nervous habit people had though. She knew that much. Maybe this situation was embarrassing for both of them. She didn’t doubt it. Being new and having everybody look at you like you were weird was unnerving. She let out a sigh and brought her eyes down from the wall. Maybe she had to start the conversation for once. It wasn’t like her and it made her stomach churn, but someone always had to be the first.

She wondered what to say. Before she could form a single word, Vera reached into her bag and pulled out a cellphone. Gabby wondered what she was doing, just as she could hear the picture being taken. Her face turned undeniably red. No one had taken a picture of her in years, and now someone she hadn’t shared one word with had done it. It was enough to make her want to disappear where she sat. Even more than that, however, she wanted to laugh. Was this their way of having a conversation? It was like they were communicating through their joined humiliation and quietness. To her, at least, it was funny. She took a quick breath in and burst into laughter. She hadn’t had so much fun in class before.

Slowly, she silenced herself. It was a strange fist conversation, but it was enough for her. She brought out her hand meekly and let it hang in the air. Regardless of if Vera took it or not, she would introduce herself and break their mime-like dialogue, “Hello. My name is Gabby.”  Then she would put her hand away and wait for the next thing to happen in their awkward, but funny, introduction. If people were still looking at them, she couldn’t tell and didn’t care. They should grow up and mind their own business instead of invading other people’s personal affairs.

Vera was once again caught by surprise by the female who sat across from her. Yes, she had figured out this was a female now, even though some things made it easy to mistake her for a male. When Gabby began to suddenly burst into laughter, Vera lifted her fingers to her lips to conceal her shocked expression. However, after a few seconds that shocked expression turned into a smile and soon enough, she too would begin to giggle slightly from the situation. Closing her violet colored eyes, Vera would give a small smile. Still, she didn't talk much, but atleast she had the ability of displaying emotion. Albeit the situation was still sort of odd since neither of them had shared a word with one another yet. After a few seconds of laughing and giggling, both females would fall back to silence. However, instead of averting her gaze elsewhere, Vera continued to look towards her fellow classmate with a small smile. Could this be a ploy to lower her guard before coming in for the kill? Such a sudden thought came to Vera's head that made a sudden pained expression come over her face. Once again, these pessimistic thoughts were such a bother, but it couldn't be helped.

When Gabby extended her hand and finally introduced herself, Vera lifted her own hand and gave a soft shake. Though she couldn't feel Gabby's hands through her gloves, the new student had a feeling they were as soft as they appeared. After the proper introduction Vera felt it was her duty to reciprocate properly. "W-Watashi wa Valentina Vera desu. (I am Vera Valentina)." How she stuttered when she spoke, it was easy enough to tell she was having some trouble speaking the Japanese language, but she was trying for the sake of Gabby. Bowing her head as a sign of respect, the young thief would speak again. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Gabby-chan." So Vera did have a voice, it seemed. Though she only spoke when being spoke to directly. In someone's work, such as her family's, it was best to stay elusive and stick to the shadows. A thief that held too much attention usually found themselves captured and behind bars for even the smallest of times. Wait, there was a possibility that she was an undercover cop! "H-how foolish of me-!" Vera thought this to herself, as she began to kneed a strand of hair between her fingers and look to the side once again. Nice try, copper.

Vera could only guess her "classmate" would ask personal questions next. Probably things like where she stayed, or if she lived alone. It was imperative to build a profile on the criminals you were trying to arrest, right? But to think Gabby was an officer, even though she looked so young. This was surely a covert operation. Had Vera finally hit the big leagues?! The thought of being praised like her family before her made the girl's face light red and her lips to curl into a kitty like grin. Raising a hand to cover her mouth, she looked towards Gabby, but remained in silence like before. It was rather obvious she was thinking of some strange thoughts. After all, the expression basically spilled the beans.

It was obvious that Vera thought a lot. It was also obvious by the looks on her face that her thoughts were not the most pleasant. If she kept thinking like that, she would look thirty by the time she was twenty-two. Then again, maybe she just thought being optimistic was a waste of time. It sort of was in retrospect. How did optimist keep up the cheery mood all day? Then again, being a pessimist wasn’t good either. The world would always be too gloomy then. On second thought, she’d stop questioning Vera’s motives. They were her own and no one else’s business. Not even hers. Gabby could also tell that Japanese wasn’t Vera’s strong suit. In fact it was still very shaky at best, “It’s a pleasure to meet you too, Vera.” She switched over to another language, “I also speak English if you’re better with that. You can learn Japanese at your own pace.” She didn’t know if Vera even understood English, but it was the most common language in the world at the moment, so maybe she did. She noticed as Vera’s face finally changed to something more than worry-wart. It actually scared her a little. Were most people that quick to change their personality? Or maybe she secretly had plans for world domination. That would make Gabby smile like too, “I know we don’t know each other that well, considering we just met, but why did you take my picture?” She repeated the question in English just in case, “Also, could you warn me next time? I can’t imagine I look good when surprised.”

Vera's eyes would widen in surprise as Gabby suddenly switched languages as if it were so simple. She was very smart, wasn't she? Giving a small smile, the reserved first year would give Gabby and slow nod. When she questioned Vera's motives on why she took a picture, the violet haired young girl would look to the side while folding a few stands of hair behind her right ear. Should she give an honest answer about her condition? Maybe that'd be for the best. After all, Gabby seemed rather knowledgeable and she could become a big help in the future. Especially when it came to learning Japanese and the know about in Ueitawa. After those several seconds of silent thoughts, Vera would look back towards her classmate while lowering her hands back into her lap. "I see. You deserve an explanation, don't you?" She spoke in English, which was far more better than her Japanese, but it was obvious it wasn't her first language as her Russian accent was quite strong.

Crossing her arms across her chest, her violet eyes looked towards the window. "It is because of a condition I have. My long term memory easily fades from my mind over time, and to remedy this I must make notes, or some kind of reminders to remember things. Thus, I took your picture so I could always remember what you looked like, and not forget you as time passed on." She spoke with a quite tone, but she didn't sugarcoat words. Well now that that was out of the bag, there was a big chance Gabby would stop talking to her. Talking to someone who had a condition made others feel like they needed to pity them. Of course, Vera's pessimistic thoughts made it seem all worst case scenario. "Please don't pity me, my condition does not make me weak." Her violet eyes glanced back to Gabby's, and she fell quiet once again. She had not even responded to her fellow classmate's request to warn her next time. No, the transfer student was waiting to see if this other would hold her condition against her. After all, it was quite abnormal wasn't it?

Thank goodness she had learned English growing up. It proved to be handier than her native tongue ever was. Gabby listened while Vera told the story about her condition. After hearing her out completely, she closed her eyes and nodded, “Makes sense to me.” She had hardwired it in her mind to speak English with Vera. She couldn’t exactly place the accent, but she knew it wasn’t from a nation with a melodic language. The way she spoke was too hard. She was probably from somewhere in Europe, but that was the most she could figure. As for pity, she had none. Pity wouldn’t solve Vera’s problem, or get anything done. It just wasn’t practical or productive, “I won’t pity you, but in exchange, I want one thing.”

She knew something that would help. Without another word, she got out of the seat and walked back to her desk. Her bag was nestled against the side, just leaning on the legs of the corner seat. She opened her bag and reached inside of it. She pulled out her own cell phone and opened it up. She tapped through it until she found the camera. She had never used it before, so it took her a while. Once it was up and ready, she walked back to Vera. Partially as payback and for fun, she stood so she was at the same height as Vera sitting and snapped a picture of the two of them together. She saved the photo and showed it to her, “Now I have evidence, too. In case you forget and misplace your phone. Fair trade, right?”

Vera listened to Gabby while lowering her hands onto her lap. When her fellow classmate finally raised herself from her chair and left, Vera's eyes would not follow. Instead they would look towards the window once again. The thoughts going through her head, of course, were negative when trying to deduce why the classmate had suddenly left. Maybe they did not wish to be around someone who would not be able to even remember them in a week or two? "That's fine." She thought to herself. "What's the point of getting to know someone who will forget everything about you. This is for the best. She is as smart as I pegged her to be." A small smile came across the transfer student's face as she tilted her head forward and allowed a small breath to escape her perky lips. "This was the expected outcome. Completely underst-..." Her thoughts were suddenly lost from her, as Gabby made a sudden return.

When she snapped a picture of both of them so suddenly, Vera's face would be flushed with redness. This was so sudden, and even someone as fickle as herself could not understand why it had just happened. Immediately her eyes looked downwards towards her lap, and her lips curled into a sort of smile. Why was her face so hot now? When her violet eyes looked at the photograph, she'd give Gabby a smile and soon a nod. "Okay, Gabby. This is a fair trade." This classmate, she was different. Vera felt she was too fickle to lead her own life alone, but following Gabby seemed within her realm. "Umm, does this mean we are--friends?"

Gabby had to think for a second at that question. She hadn’t really made any friends since she had moved to Japan nearly ten years ago. Could she call Vera a friend or was she just a classmate? There was a fine line distinguishing between the two, but someone could be both. There was always that possibility. She looked at the phone again and smiled, “It seems that way to me. We new girls have to stick together and not get lost in the storm that blows around us. A storm named—I don’t quite know what it’s named. Sometimes it’s just fun to be melodramatic. You know, going against the flow. Not often though.” She put the chair back in its original spot, “Just so you know, I may have to yell at you if you forget me and lose your phone. As for the present, I’m going back to my seat, so the teacher isn’t angry when break is over.” With those as her final words, she walked back to her seat and reclaimed her spot as the quiet girl in the back corner of the room. She put her phone back in her bag. With that she could finally call her mother and say she made a friend. She would be so proud.

Vera silently watched her new-friend- walk back to her desk. Turning back towards the window, the little thief's face was still abit red from the sudden encounter. This would be okay, right?
