**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

(Just a little something for me to test how how my character for the next plot reacts and talks, also to give me something to do. If you want to jump in go ahead though it might be better to shoot me a PM first depending on where this goes.  Of course this thread has nothing to do with anything.)

Being out of breath with your muscles hot and weak, there was something elating about it. Being detached from the world as your mind had other stuff to focus on, it gave more clarity to what was really on her mind. The grass framed around her, short, tight and green, the sun basking in a cloudless sky lazily descending towards the horizon. Each breath of her’s was fighting against the instinct to keep them short and sharp, making them deep and controlled. It was a great idea to come here after school, one she’d been looking forwards to ever since school started this morning. Sprinting down the river bank along the top of the levee, barely a soul about and in the heat of the summer. Just her and the sound of insects, it seemed like the perfect use of an hour. A cool wind blowing off the water to fight of the worse of the heat, even now it was blissful.

Dressed in all the finery that someone with no job, no parents and a supreme lack of caring adults could afford she at least looked in place now. A white school gym shirt hanging loose from a pair of black tracksuit bottoms. The former soaked in sweat at the collar and arms, the latter remarkable only in as far as a embroidered chain of daisies that ran along the outside hem on both sides. Clear beads glistened on her face, looking up into the clear sky. Spread eagle, chest rising and falling, time didn’t seem to really exist. It was a freedom here, compared to the drudgery of school, chained to a desk all day with no respite. Even if she was the one chaining herself these days, further education only cared if you got the grades. You had to show your working and be as boring as possible. Torture in short, nothing about actually being able to do it. End of term exams were next week, so no clubs were running, just her. A smile washed across her face for a moment, punny.

Surfacing from her timeless dive though she let out a sigh and abruptly sat up. Grass sticking to her exposed skin and leaving a chaotic mass of red lines where she had pressed against it. A few loose blades trailing in braided hair that swung down her back like two armoured tails. Her body might protest but she could never keep still doing nothing for long, even if it was only walking back towards town. It was then that something caught her attention, her almost red eyes flared as she twisted to her knees before standing up completely. A rustle of polyester as she did so, wiping the sweat on her forehead away with the back of her wrist she frowned, “How long have you been standing there?” The accusation clear in her tone, annoyance flavouring it. Her voice was short, sharp and quite aggressive, it might easy carry passion but right now it gave no indication of that. Looking up at the pavement along the top of the bank she was several meters below them, the sun casting her shadow between them.

PostSubject: Re: Banks of Lethe [Open]   Banks of Lethe [Open] EmptySat Sep 19, 2015 11:52 am

As the girl raised her head to look up, she would see that her senses were right-there really was someone standing there, a young man was looking down at her from the levee, shining emerald eyes brimming beneath bushy eyebrows and short, messy orange hair ruffling in the slight breeze, dancing in the same rhythm as his prescribed school uniform the girl would have recognized as the one from the school she attended, an unbuttoned white shirt, which he wore over his everyday black t-shirt during the Summer and dark grey pants, also part of the uniform. A pair of sunglasses (the pilotey ones), was clipped onto the collar of his t-shirt. The guy was overweight, with a sizeable stomach and some leftover beard on his chin. A school bag, which looked like it had been through some rough times, hanged loosely off his left shoulder. The girl would have been able to identify him as one of the Seniors at the school if she gave it some thought. They have never met directly, but the signs were all clear that he was indeed from the same school as her. His name, however, probably wouldn't pop up in the girl's mind so easily.

Anyways, the moment the girl spun around and started glaring at him like that from the riverbank, the sun slowly descending behind her, enveloping both in its shining glow, the guy flinched, as if she had caught him doing something he shouldn't have, and then blushed, his eyes widening and his face turning as red as a pepper as his mind abruptly affirmed the situation-that she had seen him. And not only that, but the way the stage was perfectly set, he couldn't help but blush, even if her words were only those of accusation. Firmly, he took a step back, but shook his head immediately. He muttered something below his voice as he looked down. He was holding an inside debate, that much was clear. Several moments later, however, he grunted figuring what seemed to him to be the only reasonable (aka, the only course of action which would allow him to keep his dignity, if he even had any left) course of action right now, raised his head and took a step back towards the bank and the girl. He took a deep breath and shouted in a firm, mocking voice, trying to make his words sound like some sort of a tough guy comeback. "Long enough!" He said, forcing a cocky smirk and crossing his arms, but remaining unnaturally firm as he forced his eyes not to stray from the girl's face, the beautiful face, with the sun behind it appearing as an angel's halo in his eyes.

Who the hell was this lump?

Esra could make out that he at least appeared to go to her school, though she couldn't really recall him. That mop of ginger hair, far from the body shape where she found the accessory of Aviators acceptable and unremarkable. Nothing stood out about him beyond her annoyance and now his delayed crack back at her. She'd asked for as much with her reaction but still, it did nothing to calm her down that was for sure. No far from the fact as the wind pulled at her hair, and sweat shimmered on her, she stared daggers into those sunglasses.

Shrugging her shoulders she didn't break her stare until she was almost past him. When she was level she turned away and pasued for a few seconds, "Don't slip, you'd tumble all the way down." There was the temptation of course to try to kick his knees out from under him and watch. That might have carried though in her tone, then so might the fact she was trying to not be that person any more. That she was angry enough to threaten but not stupid enough to act upon it.

It wasn't that she disliked people, no, it was that. People, nameless faceless people who had nothing to do with her, she didn't like them. The types of people that walk past you in the street, that think because you have a harder life than them you are a bad person or not worth anything. People she knew the names of, well she hated some of them too but by and large people that actually knew her she liked, enough not to want to push them down river banks at least. This guy, looking stupid, trying to seem cool while blowing out those red, blustered cheeks she'd seen several times before, ugh. One could not dress cool, or act cool, one just simply was. You had to walk the right way because you just plain knew more about life, that spark of danger and fear. It was her own opinion that she gave off far too much of the latter far too often. That was her armour though, against everything else thrown against her in life.

Esra kept on walking a way back towards the town, not in a rush, just a casual walk with her legs complaining at her. She wasn't afraid of him, or even of being seen with him, that were pansy problems that other girls had, weak girls. She just didn't see any point in paying him a seconds more attention. There was also the matter of wanting to punch him hard enough to make his glasses fly off.

Oh man, it was just so hot as she stood there (and not because of the summer heat), the way she poured hate into her look as she stared at him, the wind carassing her hair all the while she walked closer and closer... There was something so wrong in loving it, something which just made it all the more worth it!!! ...and then she walked right past him, pausing for a moment right there, right next to him!

At first, he was too rattled by her appearance to process everything. Her frame against the sunlight wouldn't leave his mind, like nothing else had meaning to him. But that trance was broken by her words, and he turned her head to look in her direction, his heart beating ever faster with each passing second. Dropping his backpack into the soft grass with a silent thud, he followed her with his eyes as she walked away, mouth open as he watched her sway her hips. The reflection of her silhuette was forever carved into his retina and he fell into another trance, unable to move his arm and grab her wrist, pulling her into a soft embrace... The atmosphere was threatening to suffocate him with its tender curtain, slowly degrading his senses, losing himself in the silhuette which slowly grew smaller and smaller...

"H-hey!" He shouted at her, gathering strenght to raise his hand in her direction. She had already gained some distance between them, at least 5 meters, so he quickly grabbed his tattered backpack with one hand and flipped his sunglasses off his eyes with the other, clumsily stuffing them into the backpack as he ran after her. "W-wait a goddamn second!"

The fact that he was still trying made Esra think again if she knew this guy, or he might know her brother, no he was too young for that if he went to her school. Not that she paid too much attention but she didn't think he was a member of the school council, he was totally forgettable. It was entirely unlikely that he had anything that she needed to talk to him about. How selfish.

The way he was acting, if she was to hazard a wild guess was for something far from innocent. Ersa was not some naive little girl, she knew the difference between love, lust and desire and exactly what she looked like. Most definitely there were more attractive girls in her class but she was the wilder of most of them, even most girls she met. Different strokes for different folks and all that meant that those guys that wanted that sort of things gravitated towards her. Some thinking she was easy, others thinking it a challenge and no doubt some of them that really liked her. However she didn't have any time for any of them, nor this guy. Her past left her self in that regard closed off to the world, there was already enough for her to deal with.

So her reaction was to not, to just keep on walking at her normal place and look ahead, picking out the distant figure walking towards them much further down the path. If he had something to say he should have just said it, people could be so stupid sometimes.

"W-wait, come on!" He shouted after her as he ran, gasping for air thanks to his outstanding(ly low) cardio. It sort of hurt how she just ignored him, even with the whole surge of his brimming love pulsating through his thoughts and blocking out most of the things, but he wasn't going to give up. He wasn't gonna let her reject even talking to him. And he just wanted to hear her voice again... Yes, that was how he felt and it was the same feeling that kept him going forwards, despite her attitude. Well sure, part of it was his general need as a human male and art of it was definitely that aura she had around her, but most of it was true love. Kinda. At least he felt it was ever since he first laid eyes on her in the school.

"Just stop for a moment, please!" He approached her from the back and extended his hand to try and grab her by the wrist of her left hand, driven by the daze he found himself in that day. He just couldn't think straight what else to do...

She could hear his breath, how close he was from his footsteps, the groan in her gut that told her something was about to go down. He had already come far too close for comfort, reaction kicked in. There was no reason for her to hold back, it was like a weight lifted from her shoulders. Her heart hammered heavy, her eyes flared as she twisted on her right leg, away from him, to face him. At that same moment her stance lowered, her hips twisted and her hands curled into a fist. Thumb placed behind her fingers she fired her left arm forwards, keeping her wrist straight, knuckles on a target that she didn't even need to think about aiming for. The right side of his jaw, if it did hit home then it might be enough to knock him flat out, well if it was with her right fist it would. Regardless, unless he was used to getting punched in his stupid face it should floor him at least.

When her fist recoiled she made ready for a second, just in case. For a split second she thought about putting him in a hammer lock, but she wanted to hurt him, to punch something. What if this creep tried this with some total weakling, getting all up in her face. He needed a lesson, one she didn't trust the actual authorities about at all.

As he reached out for her hand, she turned before he could grab her. At first, his eyes glistened eith glee as he watched the girl's braids dance around as she swirled, sure that she was finally going to give him a fraction of his attention...

And so he dully awaited the unforseen punch, enveloped in the blyssful ignorance that is love. Her fist stroke him hard, knocking him back and down on the pavement of the road, yet it somehow failed to register in his brain. It was only when the back of his head hit the stone hard concrete that the pain, both from the strike to the jaw and from the fall, reached his conciousness. The world swirled for a moment as he found himself laying helpless on the road, a thin stream of blood warming up the back of his head where he fell. His vision blurred as he felt it hard to keep his eyes opened and his ears rang. He finally felt the rusty taste of iron in his mouth as he tried to shout out in pain, but could only produce a soundless grumble. His backpack, squashed between his back and the road, fell apart as he fell on it, and its contents scattered everywhere...

Still, on some level, he wasn't even aware of it all. He couldn't speak, he couldn't move, he couldn't even see clearly... His being was captured, ensnared in one word that infinitely looped itself in his mind. A word which aptly described his impression of the girl at that moment, adorned with an exclamation mark to boot! And that word was...

'Wow!'

PostSubject: Re: Banks of Lethe [Open]   Banks of Lethe [Open] EmptySun Sep 27, 2015 3:44 pm

Esra dignified him with a glare, to check he was still breathing and didn't seem to be dying. There was some blood, her fist hurt a little, still it felt like she had half punched a marshmallow rather than a guy. To bad those cheeks weren't hiding airbags for him. She'd laid him out and he didn't appear to be crying his eyes out, at least not yet. Crossing her arms she sucked through her teeth before letting out a sigh, "Ya'll pathetic, if any part of you thinks of touching me again, it'll be the last thing it ever touches." Then she looked up and away with her reddish eyes towards where the distant figure still walked towards them, seemingly undaunted.

She wanted to just walk off and leave him in his shame, even the biggest pussy felt it when a girl tore down any semblance of manhood he had. Yet she didn't want him to actually die, that would get her into a heck of a lot of trouble and, well people might find out. It was well known at school not to piss her off, beyond that though just a few rumors here and there. No one knew how deep she had gotten herself before, that was by far for the best. Wait, this stain went to her school right, stupid. Beyond just dying then, she needed to make sure he wasn't going to start spreading stuff behind her back. Well, then she'd tell the truth of course, raising her hand to her face. He assaulted her so she decked him, that'd ruin him right out.

Walking away a few steps she looked over her shoulder, "Ya' dyin'?" Flippant, expecting no more than another useless gurgle. She had to back to the home, get showered and do that homework thing right? Gah, this guy had ruined a nice evening.

The ringing wouldn't stop. It covered the world around him in a black veil, distancing him from reality as his conciousness drifted. His mind wasn't working properly at that point, but that didn't mean he fell unconcious. At least, not yet.

He didn't hear her ask the question. He couldn't hear her ask the question. He couldn't even hear his own thoughts. Yet, his body reacted to the stimulus. It wasn't a concious reaction, no no. It was more like when you are half asleep and you hear something and say something, no matter how meaningless. Despite that, it was still a reaction. He raised his hands to his head, pushing them against his forehead as he clenched his teeth in pain. "-kh... Mhh-" Was all he could muster to say before rolling over to the side, still holding his hands on his head. Where his head laid on the concrete was a small bloody stain and the hair on the back of his head was all muffled from it. He kept muttering something to himself after that. Inaudible things which probably meant nothing.

The fall probably gave him a slight concussion, but he would be alright...presumably.

He had saved her the trouble of kicking him onto his side so he didn't swallow his own tongue. On the grounds that he had said he was okay, she started walking and gave nary a drop of further consideration towards him. And so, nameless stranger who creeped on her and was left half dead on the side of the river bank disappeared from history to be forgotten by all.

----------

THE VERY NEXT DAY!

School was not natural for Esra, just like living under the water was not healthy for a bird. Still she had learned by now to hold her breath, tuck in her wings and take that dive like the Guillemot she was. She was no longer one of the worst in her class, she was actually a passable student these days, even if it felt like punishment more than anything else. At least it was lunchtime now, a gasp of fresh air before sinking back into the abyss.

Esra sat tilted in her chair against the windowsill, enjoying the sun light and just for a moment everyone else milling around. There was a screech as Shawnee pushed her desk up against Esra's with a bump, followed shortly by Lylou. It was quite nice to have friends in her own class as well, something younger her wouldn't have even dreamed about. Shawnee was well, a complete nerd, so deep into complex mathematics that it would not be entirely surprising that she'd be a Robot. Lylou was as much more likely friend, somewhat average at everything other than sports which she did even better than Esra in many cases. If they ended up on the same team, they won, no question.

The former wore glasses, braided black hair and was so skinny it was hard to see were any given part of her started and another began. The latter a much darker skin tone with short cut hair that could leave her looking like a boy some of the time, mighty powerful eyebrows. Lunch was the same as normal in the summer, sandwiches all round, a cool breeze coming in through the window. It picked at Esra's hair like strings on a harp, loose as they were.

Her trifecta was taking it easy today, small talk about their last teacher and the rumors about him. That there was a track competition coming up, that there was a exam coming up next week. It was quite normal and unremarkable, just another lazy day that she was just about on the cusp of getting used to.

PostSubject: Re: Banks of Lethe [Open]   Banks of Lethe [Open] EmptyTue Sep 29, 2015 8:12 pm

The next day ~

School was a mess. Sure, it had always been a mess, especially for him, who would have been much better off had he been left to laze around at home that day. But no, daddy-o even had the balls to hit him himself after he had failed to get any straight answers from him about his bruising cheek, bloodied hair and torn up backpack, so now he even had a clean cut bruise on his nose, as well. He even had to carry his books in a plastic bag because daddy-o said 'We don't have any money, so go f*** yourself! Ha, fat jerk of a son!', for crying out loud! Of course, this incited an avalanche of questions and mocks from everyone in his class and he just told them he got into a fight with his dad. Guys from his class already knew the drill about it all, this wasn't the first time he got to school with bruises all over his face, usually from when he got into an argument with his daddy-o. And hell, he wasn't gonna tell them a girl beat him up, was he now!? Jesus, why was everything so shit? It was all 'cause of that girl... Had he not have went and stepped out of the line, none of this would have happened. He should've known when to keep his d*** in his pants...

All the thoughts swirled through his head as he casually patrolled the hallways of the school in search of something to eat. He managed to squeeze enough cash from his mommy-dear (she was always weak when faced with his, or his father's demands) to buy himself a hell of a huge sandwich if he wished so, but he got hungry right then and there (probably due to all the crap happening), so he had to at least buy a snack or something. He was just going down the first floor of the building, next to an opened door leading to one of the freshmen classes, when he caught a glimpse of something-something which made his spine shiver with excitement and heart start pumping boiling love-filled blood straight up to his face, effectively turning it as red as a tomato. He stopped, dumbfounded, suspended in his step, and turned to look inside.

And there she was, sitting right there with two other chicks, the sky in the background framing her beautiful face... The picture was too perfect, even more so than the one from yesterday, because now... oh, now she wore the school uniform! It just made him feel extatic, just looking at her like that. It did not, however, make him invisible. He still stood frozen at the door to the class, just staring inside, wide-eyed. Someone was bound to notice.

Back to the wall as she was, even talking to her friends, how could she not notice him now? The mess that he was, a stranger in school uniform standing in the entrance to their classroom. Bruised, battered, fat and ginger, such a combination. Esra fell silent, her eyes thinning in a way that made most people flee in terror. The sound of the classroom fell away as well, leaving that great gulf to the two of them. Red eyes not meeting green, destroying them with laser guided precision.

For you, tomorrow never comes,
A last distant light, a primal fear,
Distant thunder, not one you can hear,
A final breath, a final beat.

It might be your last so hold it dear,
A look so cold, so murderously wild,
Enough to leave most, shaking like a child,
Death comes for you, raged and rabid.

While you are consumed with lust, beguiled,
You forget, you obey those kardia drums,
Mindless, listless, a body so lost it numbs,
Watch yourself, you are about to loose your grip.

Now a sensible reaction would be to leave it at that, to ignore him. Sensible however required you to give at least some thought to your actions and right now, Esra's thought-O-matrix was currently showing negative numbers. Which is why in that moment, she pulled her left shoe off and threw it across the room at his head. It arced over other people sat at tables, and neatly towards its target as she sprang to her feet, foot. The tights that covered her legs up to her longer than standard skirt did not have the worlds best grip. That was only a slight hesitation however as she started to awkwardly walk towards him.

This was school, in front of people she knew, so making good on her previous promise was impossible, at least until afterwards. He pissed her off so much, crazy, stalker, creep, turning up here of all places.

Banks of Lethe [Open] Empty

He stood there, and she noticed him. For a moment, dazed by the brilliance of her red eyes, he lost himself like he had yesterday. He wanted to hold her, to have her... But that moment was cut short, and by a flying shoe, no less.

Given his already sub-par reflexes being further dulled by his trance, it was no surprise that the shoe hit its mark, striking him straight into the already bruised nose. The shoe rebounded against his face, hitting him, of course, with the hard sole and with more force than he would have ever expected, sharp pain as something in his nose cracked and several droplets of red scattered through the air proning him to squint his eyes and yowch as he took two steps backwards, tripping over some underclassman and falling right down on his ass. "Fuck!" He shouted out in utter disbelief of the moment as he pushed the kid away. Blood started trickling from his nose and when he instinctively tried to wipe off the liquid, unaware of the state of his nose, he winced and pulled his hand back. When he opened his eyes, he could see the girl walking straight towards him... But the surprise caused by her unexpected and sharp reaction, combined with the pain spreading from his pulsating, now broken nose, made him incapable of getting on his shaky feet once again, so he remained on the floor, only managing to crawl back a short distance in helplessnes you'd expect from a child getting scolded by his mother before she would reach him at the pace she had been taking.

Several curious students turned to see what happened. Soon enough, they would multiply and there would be a commotion... T-this day was shit!
