| Since the Arena is coming up soon, I'd like to voice my opinion on adding a couple of formats which would allow Players to face-off eachother on an equal playing field. As we have a bunch of different factors playing in which could theoretically make a certain matchup uneven... the major contributor to this is Human Skills. All the classes, with 4 exceptions (The Persona Users, Nyarlathotep Children and their respective Wild Cards) gain multiple Human Skills as they rank up. In something like the Arena, Fair Play is something which I feel should be emphasized, hence why we should have Formats, where we can apply or take away limitations. The formats I have in mind are very rough sketches, as we have yet to see what the Arena is going to be like. Format 1: "Vanilla" (Tentative name) No Rule Changes have been applied here. No Additional Human Skills. No Weapon Upgrades, and no items from the Velvet commodities period. It's just you and your opponent, using what they have at their disposal naturally. Format 2: Equal This is a format where Both players have an equal amount of Human Skills, regardless of Class. We go by the Ultimate Human Skill Gain curve here, so you can have a maximum of 4 Human Skills, with max 1 of each tier. Other than that, the same rules as Vanilla applies. No Weapon Upgrades, or items from the velvet room. Format 3: Event Match-up This one is quite possibly my favorite. Take up the skill set, Stats, Arcana, and Class of two combatants that have participated in a story-driven PvP Match in a past plot and see how you and your opponent use the characters differently. Format 4: Team Matchups You can gang up with a couple of friends and duke it out against another group. 2v2, 3v3 etc. Could take a bit longer than a regular match, but it can help you dealing with one of those should you end up in one in the Plot. Format 5: Battle Royale As the name blatantly states, this is you versus everyone else involved. Fight to the top and be the last one standing. Quite skill intensive and chaotic, but most certainly fun. Note, these are just ideas. It would be neat to see them get implemented though. ~ Jerry | |

| I'm sorry to say, but I don't think this will be that useful. As the Arena Master, I can tell you right now that the matches won't follow formats like this and something remotely similar to it will be decided by the players that want to fight in it. That said, this was a good idea, but we're not going to follow strict rules for something like this, not when it's still completely OoC. When tournaments and that come into play, expect formats to come with them, but for now, I'm keeping all of the fights that happen in the Arena to the will of the fighters that are involved in them. This means that it's up to the party that'll be using the Arena to decide the number of Human Skills, if they get equipment, their rank, etc. etc.
With that said, good job, I'll be taking note of those formats for, as I said, tournaments, when and if they come. | |
